Roundo Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 A yearling hen that I dropped two weeks ago turned up this morning and you'll never guess? the ETS ring has been removed....... Why do fancier do this? Are they that desperate for a ring? Times must be tough!!!!!
pigeonpete Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 morons! isnt that ring just registered to your clock/club? so would be useless to anyone else... .
OLDYELLOW Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 superglue them on but if there desperate doubt the bird would return then , but its very sad that folk are removing there rings
BLACK W F Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 thats the kind of thing that happens when your in a resesion i do not know why any one could be bothered to take the ring no good to no one except owner
blackdog Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 these are the sort of people the sport can do without, (w!!kers)
Roland Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Simple really.... some are peeved with the 'back door' way of bringing ET's in, and some anti ET's just say 'Stuff You'! Simple that. Suppose it will die a death sometime :-/
blackdog Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 (w!!kers) whats 1 of those??? lol the thing you do with one hand ;D ;D

Roland Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Suppose, looking on the bright side, it is a good good that the Rings can't be re - used, or the'd always be coming home with them missing eh!

Roland Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Weer, then I suppose there is a bit of skullduggery going on too then ... at a saving of £1 10p Iguess they will be tempted in like with Pouters etc.
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 They can be re-used. :-/ When the new secretary comes to allocate them they will show the old members loft number so the new member needs to be able to show that the ring is now his.
Razvan Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 You don't understand... maybe that fancier caught your pigeon, removed the ring and putted your bird in his loft... and the pigeon flight home...
Guest asha Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Why do fancier do this? Simply put,he has taken part payment for looking after your bird for 7-10 days, fed water, vits, medication ect...let alone time this gentleman has spent trying to put back fitness,physical/mental,which if the so say bird had been basketed correctly by yourself, would or should have returned, and i may add saved everyone time. Perhaps next time you decide to enter a bird in a race, best look at its breeding, condition, and 1 last look in the mirror to ask yourself ,if this bird and yourself are up to the task of competitive racing, before you slag a gentelman who has in fact saved and potected your bird from a much worst fate.
Guest strapper Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 whats 1 of those??? lol the thing you do with one hand ;D ;D two if you were born lucky ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You're having a laugh!!!!! You obviously don't know me or my birds. If the guy who looked after my bird as you suggest wanted paid for it all he had to do was ask, I don't think taking the ETS ring is the answer. Not to worry though............life goes on, with or without scum like this. Colin.

Guest Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Is removing the ets ring not the same as removing the rubber, as most fanciers do to let you know bird been in? Lets face it if the birds never went in other peoples lofts it would'nt be a problem lol!

Lets face it if the birds never went in other peoples lofts it would'nt be a problem lol! Sorry Mick, don't agree with you on that one. I've had loads of stray pigeons come into my lofts (with ETS rings) and I always give them the chance to rest up for a day or so, feed & water etc. When I release the pigeon I either put an old rubber or a split ring on one of it's legs, so at least the owner will know if the bird returns. Never once have I removed the ETS ring, especially not as payment for it's overnight lodgings. Each to their own I suppose!!!!

Any decent fancier would look after another fanciers bird and do all he could to help to get the bird fit again and back to its owner without even thinking of asking for payment,as a secretary I pick up loads of birds and keep until they are fit again and then try to get them as near home as possible,I wouldnt dream of asking to be compensated. To take a ETS ring of a birds leg is stealing off a fellow fancier.
