Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 any more info on returns (lanarkshire fed) strange race ,birds pretty scarce ,any ideas why? If only we knew, one thought i have was the heat took its toll once the pigeons got too 13.00. : : : :-/ :-/ :-/ hopefully some of the doos will not be too far away in the morning. Waiting on 10 from 46 :( :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Couldn't help but notice that the boys up in Aberdeen and Peterhead area have had a good race and returns and after checking with the met office the temp up the east coast is around 5 oC cooler than centre of the UK. :-/ :-/
frank-123 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 7/10 for me east in the wind always makes it a hard race i trained from edinburgh to blantyre today my birds came from the south :-/ so i can imagine where my lost birds are way out west and not stopped
sapper756 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Fife Fed Open from Leicester 260 miles, 12 home from 15 sent 13 home now 2 to come
Guest bigda Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 took a hit today 8-12 i think the racing is going to be tough newbury will be no easy race, but has the advantage of all going together, that might save the day, they birds should have made it was bothered about the clashing with birds at berwick, dunbar, unc dont know how Manny birds where there or where they would have met ,thinking it could have been in and around scotch corner - thirsk
BrianP Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 sun & moon in the sky today- always gives dodgy returns. We were at Leicester and birds were doing 1800 ypm
JADE Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Couldn't help but notice that the boys up in Aberdeen and Peterhead area have had a good race and returns and after checking with the met office the temp up the east coast is around 5 oC cooler than centre of the UK. :-/ :-/ i think as well as the heat there will have been clashing involved. the north lads were racing from ripon and aberdeen from witton castle and would have less chance of clashing with birds going south and virtually no chance of clashing with other scottish feds
JADE Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 remember also that some of these birds have never really been tested. yes it was easy for the winners but the distance is increasing and the racing has been easy up to now. " the basket always sorts them out!"
Guest bigda Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 thinking at the lib times, the unc would have been on the road 45 min before us, and they can carry 20,30,000 birds, meet them with no wind and down one side of the hills they will turn your birds, as they think they are getting chased, by the hawk, how Manny birds where at berwick and Dunbar that will tell you enough, yes there are birds there inexperienced, but the all flew the young bird program late comers is all we can hope for now but, its more like never to be seen or reported again and fanciers dont get that manny strays in that they could nap, not the total amount lost today all in over 2,500 doos, cant see this week of that manny birds been reported
