Tony C Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Never buy from someone that doesn't race whatever their excuse.

Guest Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Never buy from someone that doesn't race whatever their excuse. I DONT THINK THIS IS A VERY FAIR COMMENT,IVE BRED MANY WINNERS BUT I DONT RACE ANY MORE :-/ AND IVE HAD MANY FANCIERS TRYING TO BY MY STOCK BIRDS WHICH HAVE PRODUCED FEDERATION WINNERS
NW USA Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Well out of the first four tips I would only agree with 1 1/2 of them. which and why?
blaz Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 feed the best you can afourd .nice and clean food not dusty
thunderboult Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 a dry loft i think is the most important part with good ventilation for the number of birds in it.
PIGEON_MAN Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 give your take on things mate could be a great learning thread this one Good ventilation yes but no need for a clean loft, seen some lofts with droppings a foot high under the perches and these guys had birds in there that had won 10 firsts, Wouldnt be bothered wether the guy had raced or not he could have some of the best breeders around. Buyings of winners guarentees nothing. Agree 100% with Whitrnight.
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 a dry loft i think is the most important part with good ventilation for the number of birds in it. i thought i put dry loft my mistake thanks for correcting me ;D ;D
Guest chrisss Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 good dry loft [nothing flash needed you fly birds not the loft] good birds from someone you trust never believe all you are told have a firm trust in your birds have patience[the most important part that all of us preach yet none of us has ;D ;D ;D] make a plan and keep to it you have two ears and only one mouth,so listen twice as much as you talk never stop learning always look to improve your birds
blaz Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 as with all things as a novice you pick out who,s advice suites your set up . as you can,t take on everybody's advice as we dont all agree on somethings. most of us agree on the main things. ie loft ventilation clean food fresh grit. will stop their as someone might not agree.
Guest Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Don't let your enthusiasm to race your pigeons, come before good advice from fanciers that know better.Have threw away a lot of good pigeons because enthusiasm came before wisdom.
blaz Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Don't let your enthusiasm to race your pigeons, come before good advice from fanciers that know better.Have threw away a lot of good pigeons because enthusiasm came before wisdom. spot on with this one as i have been guilty of not listening to good solid advice and lost good birds now i try to ask in my opinion the best available person to ask
ALF Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Don't let your enthusiasm to race your pigeons, come before good advice from fanciers that know better.Have threw away a lot of good pigeons because enthusiasm came before wisdom. Thats a mistake we have all made Vinny :(
Tony C Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I DONT THINK THIS IS A VERY FAIR COMMENT,IVE BRED MANY WINNERS BUT I DONT RACE ANY MORE :-/ AND IVE HAD MANY FANCIERS TRYING TO BY MY STOCK BIRDS WHICH HAVE PRODUCED FEDERATION WINNERS I'm not saying don’t buy from studs period. This is advice is for novices who are new to the game and can easily be taken in by spin. I don’t know you or what results you have achieved or what others have achieved with your pigeons but I could find out if what you claim is true by digging around and doing my homework, a novice wouldn't know who to ask, what to ask or where to look to find out same. ps I use the word ‘you’ loosely as this pertains to any stud.
Guest Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Same as i say to anyone new or not keep it simple, fanciers complicate things, not the birds.
aye ready Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 go canny with ur y'bs cos these are ur future.i don't mean don't test them but sometimes u can put all ur eggs in the one basket (speaking from experience)
gangster Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 mines deffo do your home work before you spend your money, better still try spending a bit of time with the top local flyer and never be afraid 2 ask questions ...
Guest strapper Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 you dont always learn something from doing things right!,, ...but you always learn something from doing things wrong!..this may sound a little stupid by some...but think about it! how many times have you got something wrong and it stuck in your mind ?. best tip for a novice i feel... would be to keep things basic, dont over complicate things by doing what everyone else is doing. learn about the birds 1st then move on to bigger things...nothing was ever achieved by running before you could walk. and a big tip is...dont worry yourself because your birds are behind in your 1st-2nd year, the guys in front of you are seasoned pro,s and there is no disgrace in being a novice! ...it will come.
Guest WINGS 04 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 if you look after your birds they will look after you it n't the bird that are bad if you only put 50% in to your birds then the man that puts 100% in to his will be at the top
