swilcox Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Blackdog how about picking up your pen and doing some articles on the best fanciers in your fed??? Thats would make good reading. Stuart
pigeonpete Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 What happened to ben hammils notes in the homing world? redfoxkrauths?
greenlands Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Blackdog how about picking up your pen and doing some articles on the best fanciers in your fed??? Thats would make good reading. Stuart The fedreation already has a scribe and a very good one at that, you can read his work in the BHW.The Apprentice.AKA.Richard Hodgson,Flimby Cumbria. If blackdog wrote about top fanciers in the fed he would or should start with himself.Had a look at his BHW this mo. there are at least three articles repeated in his book ????? Checked mine ok. but there are four pages in the results section only half printed. What's happened I don't know . Lindsay .
pigeonpete Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 WHAT DO YOU GET FOR 65p the british homing world :-)
mark Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Blackdog how about picking up your pen and doing some articles on the best fanciers in your fed??? Thats would make good reading. Mark I like to read both, have a read of Joe Murphy's report, you get the result what the pigoen is and does and the conditioning of that pigeon, the best of both, same with Pam Goodwin's report on the BICC. Reading reults is boring but I bet you every fancier who is in a club whose results get written up, it will be one of the first articles s/he'll look for. It sells papers!
blackdog Posted August 7, 2009 Author Report Posted August 7, 2009 Blackdog how about picking up your pen and doing some articles on the best fanciers in your fed??? Thats would make good reading. Stuart must be just a printing error in mine, but eh, nothing like boasting three times over ;D ;D ;D.
Guest bakes Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 well done grieg drysdale a member off this forum he has a mention in this weeks bhw taking 3rd section d snf falaise cracking flying mate
cowman Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 what gets my goat up is when you fill in the club results from the rpra link it has 4 postions so you fill in 1-4 and they only print 1-3 for gods sake if you provide all 4 results wish they would print all 4 .
Pompey Mick Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 One thing I think the Racing Pigeon does much better than the BHW is colour photographs, any colour photo submitted to the RP gets reproduced in colour. It makes for a much better presentation, Black & White looks so dreary The BHW only prints a few in colour, surely they can match the RP in this department. The RP is 5p dearer, and when you factor in the amount of advertising in the BHW they should surely be able to finance what extra costing that might arise with colour photos. With coloured headings and photographs, reports in the RP look just that much more interesting than similar reports in the BHW.
Guest Owen Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 I would be prepared to pay double the price if they included more educational type of articles. I also think that the extra profit could be used to market the sport and help with the funding for courses of the sort they are putting on at Walsall. Pigeons can be used to help young people to find something to enrich their lives. Jim Jenner has proved that. Besides, I am sure that there are a lot of females out there who could bring a new and better angle to the sport. I have met a few recently and I have been well impressed with their approach. Not to mention the fact that we could do with better suport to counteract the RSPB propergander.

The RP did that and you will probaly remember Owen in the valleys in the seventies no one read the BHW everyone read the BHW. The BHW became the No1 and that wasn't because of more educational articles it was because evry day club members could see their names in the report/result pages. That's what fanciers want, if it weren't so, wouldn't the RP be No 1 again?
Guest bakes Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 i enjoy reading both of them bhw and rp find them very good reads all the best.
