Was wondering if members were beginning to consider stopping some youngsters now, in order to be guaranteed a team of yearlings for 2010? especially when you hear of all to terrible losses so far :-/

ive stoped my cocks now after four races as i havent got an old bird team . but when i have raced before some of my best yearlings only had one race so you dont have to race them right throw . these are still growing birds they dont need to be down the road every week

think you've got to consider what you need or want from your yb's.

If you are just starting out give them a couple of races for experience then keep them back for the future.

If you just have a few boxes to fill and a shed full of yb's then after a few races stop the birds you need and race the rest through the season.

2 of the 1st 3 birds in our club race from Ypres (445mls) this year were l/b's that only got trained to 25 mls as y/b's and then put by if they are good enough they will do it ;)
