delboy a midday lib would be great for us boys up here . i know there has been some cracking fanceirs names mentioned but do they fly the 6 to 700 mile like the thread asked no . everybody knows a 600 mile doo is harder to come by than the 500 mile doo . so wheres the best 6 to 700 mile doos they are up here in the north section were the only ones to fly it different doos altogether and jim donaldson,s loft has the best of them. STB THIS POST IS ABOUT THE BEST BIRDS EVEN IF ITS A NORTH WIND A BIRD HAS GOT TO BE GIVEN THE SAME CHANCE TO GET AS FAR ON THE DAY AS THE REST I CANT REMEBER WHEN BIRDS WERE LIBRATED AT 5 AM IN THE SNFC [ WHY]

Walter are there any organisations that Lib at 05.00 i believe that to be no with the earliest lib time this year of any organisation to my knowledge being 05.30??, if i could liberate them at 04.00 i would and it would make a hell of a difference to the volume of pigeons timed in on the shift to the west of Scotland and all areas for that matter.

The SNFC this year had a multitude of different liberation times this down to mainly the weather which we have no influence on.

cheers

Gareth

The best chance  the north and west section guys have got to win national is if it a midday lib.

All birds would be fresher the next morning to carry on their way home and therefore better returns surely for all concerned.

Let's face it, the chances of getting perfect weather to enable pigeons to fly the whole day are very rare, so there are more often than not going to be birds that are shut out. JMO

No rules Jonesy regarding lib time other than Weather, sun rise, and birds getting enough time to get a drink are the only thing that determines the lib.

gareth rankin surely if you think there would be alot more birds timed with at 4 am why not let them go at 5am after all it is open for the whle nation and should be catered for everyone which is not happening all i know theres times that these birds should be in the air long before they are and if you are admitting there could be loads more birds timed in if they were let up early into the west sec [ WHY WHY WHY ARE YOU STOPPING THEM I KNOW EVERY FANCIER I KNOW WANTS TO TIME ON THE DAY WEATHER PERMITTING FROM 600+MILES ] YOU MENTION OTHER ORGANISATIONS I DIFFER TO AGREE THAT BIRDS HAVENT BEEN RELEASED AT 5AM BUT I WILL LET YOU know  but i am not a member of any other national but SNFC

what about having lights in the transporter for a early drink, and if not away for 5 then 1pm  for every one,  thats the fairest and you all know it is  ,lib  so why act all shy ;D ;D ;D

Why do you feel Gareth is stopping them when he has already stated if he could liberate the birds at 4am then he would? After all the birds welfare must be a priority!! You also continue to state that it should be fair for everyone but if it isn't then how come this years longest race was won in the N.E. :-/

BIGDA ITS MIND BOGGLING YOU CANT LET FRESH BIRDS GO AT 5AM  BUT THEY HAVE TO GET UP AND FLY AT 4.30 THE SECOND DAY AFTER FLYING 500+MILES BUT GOING BY GARETH THIS IS OK I AM AFRAID HUNDREDS DONT AGREE AND EVERYBOADY KNOWS ITS BROAD DAYLIGHT IN FRANCE AT 4 AM GIVING THE BIRDS PLENTY OF TIME FOR DRINK IS THERE EVER BEEN A DEBATE IF WEATHER IS GOOD TO GIVE THE WHOLE CONVOY A CHANCE TO MAKE IT ON THE DAY AT 600MILES

Jims  performances have been out of this world for years  if you think there are any number of good fanciers who could do what he has

i am sure they would easly get a hoose in peterhead  and can try  no del  they move from up here t o where its easyer  to win  and there are plenty more good guys up this kneck of the woods   but jims just in a league of his own  and thats proven fact

FOR ONCE ALAN I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU  (happy)(happy)(happy)(happy)

Walter everyone wants a early lib but you cannot sacrifice the pigeons welfare.

Please see my first post on the subject.

ps

Do you want the job as the convoyer for 2010 that way you will make sure these pigeons are ready for a 05.00 am which every other convoyer seams to struggle with,

frank  you stated earlier that good fanciers will win any where  and i do agree with you there  but jim is in a class of his own for consistency  look at his performances they speak for them selves   regards albears comments  there are many top distance men in the north jim is just a notch above  and i mean top men who if mooved would no doubt win a national

alan i agree jim has and will continue to be prolific fancier  but the point i was trying to make is now that our nat clubs keep bringing the race distances down even the north boys are only getting 2 600+ ml races central scotland has none so the south boys have no chance and yes i do think they want them the only fanciers that have the chance to do that are the north of england fanciers in the nfc/bicc. regarding the early lib like gareth i would lib at 4am but you have to remember the work/time involved in clearing the route so its not as easy as it might look lets face it we would all have a right go at the poor controller if he lib,d at 4am without doing his home work
