andy Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 come on Andy you must have looked up to someone??? Yes, When I was growing up Eddie Newcombe was the best.
Guest mick bowler Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Any that try or can beat me on a Race Day. I agree with that, thats where your inspiration comes from, if it doesnt then..... As for mentors, had a few, but never been luckily enough to have one who taught me everything like some do. Experience, mistakes and learning from them, but i have never lost my biggest negative, IMPATIENCE!!

BLACK W F Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 met many great fanciers over the years and learned something off them all one of the best years a go told me when you let them out watch them fly and when they drop let them play about and watch them thats where you win and lose
Taylorsloft Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 come on Andy you must have looked up to someone??? himself
pigeon pete57 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 i had been flying pigeons for about 25 years when this fela moved in next door and raced pigeons .up till then i was happy to get them home but my whole outlook of the game changed i,d been listening to the wrong people for years. the mans nameis mark gilbert
andy Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 himself Yer right. Thats the problem with lots of fanciers, they blame everyone or everything else instead of looking in the mirror. Maybe you should try it ;D
Guest strapper Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 the person who inspires me to win is the guy winning races in the club...when i became that guy in my club i relaxed my motivation so its ...motivation! motivation! and more motivation! is the key. now after starting back up(in recent years) this year ive found motivation...only time will tell.
pjc Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 my grandfather was my mentor and was always there in the result. Then when racing on my own motivation firstly to beet parents and then beet others in the club, once that was achieved then to move up the fed sheet etc. Its all about keeping motivated!

Tony C Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Motivation for me comes from within, the desire to do better, to become better. I think depending on how much the fire rages within determines how far you go in the sport. No one person inspires me nor influences, I've pretty much always done my own thing. I've learnt the hard way and yes am still learning and dont suppose I'm even half way there yet. I know one thing for sure and that is every year is getting harder instead of getting easier.

There are many that have taken advice from others and found further down the line it was the wrong advice, maybe a club member sending you down a dead end rd, Tony has clearly picked out the bits of information he feels will benefit him. He has a lot of very good fliers in his area and holds his own with them and the LNRC so must be doing something right!
