Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 would be great if they are found everywhere mate
pjc Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 start a campaign to release it a mate before the RSPB have it removed!
DOVEScot Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Looks like the RSPB are on the case already RSPB conservation officer Toby Wilson said: “Eagle owls like this one are occasionally reported in Scotland, but they are probably all birds that have escaped from captivity or been deliberately released. “Hundreds are kept as pets throughout the UK. Evidence suggests that eagle owls have never occurred as natural residents in Scotland. Whilst they are spectacular to see in their native environment, allowing captive birds to escape and live in the wild is a very bad idea, as local wildlife may suffer as a result.â€

As much as they are right to release a captive one that has only been fed by hand into the wild, they will always use that excuse to cull them. My brother is adamant he knows where one has been nesting for years but he won't let on where as he knows it will be culled
demolition man Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Do they only feed on birds of prey then? don't know much about them ;D
hotrod Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Do they only feed on birds of prey then? don't know much about them ;D no mate they will take pigeons as well and just about anything including wee dogs and cats

PETER KUYPER Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 I think it would be a good idea if the pigeon fancier gets a few pair and let them go around some breading sites of percy and give them a taste off there own medicine.
catchthepigeon Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 The RSPB released european eagle owls in Scotland. They do most of there hunting at night and there favourite prey is other raptors what are easy targets roosting at night
les Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 and children acording to RSPB! ;Di thought that was the GLITTER OWL not the eagle owl ;D

alex wight Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Theres a secret breeding and release place near St Andrews in Fife. I,m sure it was for the european eagle owl. Cant seem to find any info, its that bloody secret ;D ;D
Guest frank dooman Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 our arguement to the fact that the eagle owl is here should be that the population of BOP has reached saturation level and we all know that birds like thease only go where there is enough food to sustain them that was thev rspb,s own words when protectin the bop,s that would detroy there lies about the no,s of breeding pairs and might in turn make them lift the protection order

catchthepigeon Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Why is the rspb releasing european eagle owls when they prey on bop i thought they were trying to protect bop very strange indeed
