greenlands Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 This pigeon over the last week or so must have gone through half a pack of tobacco stalks and same with straw,he use to follow me round the garden when i threw fresh stuff down.Have you got many doing this and do they make good racers(i fly natural).Lindsay C.
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I had one a few years ago that built an unbelievable size nest - the pair could barely squeeze into it cos the roof was in the way.... not had one like it since - but have a couple with nests the size of yours - and some with barely a straw in - one last year with half a dozen 6 inch nails and nothing else can't comment on how well they might have done as I don't make notes on how big their nests are (maybe we all should)
grizzal Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Same as, just got this stock pair, biggest nest I'v had birds build

Guest ljb107 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I snap the stalks in half and put them in the nests, they still make decent sized ones but nothing has happened to the chicks or eggs. Lloyd
greenlands Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 I agree with what you say about tobacco stalks thats why i also give them straw, takes me all my time to find the eggs the nests that deep.Lindsay.
