blackdog Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 they will be back mate if u can still see them
adam owen Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 they sound quite strong mate praps it be better av them out a bit earlyer next time just incase this happens
Tropicman Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 that was the plan but due to the weather we havent been able to let them out in the past week and a half and even today its a tad windy but they had to go out as they are getting rather strong on the wing , they have an aviary on the front of the loft so they know there surroundings well so hopefully we'll see what happens !
adam owen Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 are right the aivary will be a great help to them then they should be ok may be let some old birds out to go up and dwn and drag them back in all best u will be fine

Guest WINGS 04 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I put my first young birds out the day for the first time but Had them going in and out the trap for about a week put 3 old hens out with them and they were only looking for the cks so they helped hold them on the loft first time I have done this and it worked very well
Guest Davy Fleming Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Always let my old birds out with the youngsters for about a week then they go on there own . If anything happens they are there to settle them pretty quickly
Guest cloudview Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 i always wean my yb,s in a crate inside the yb loft fed in there and water on , then bring crate outside facing loft so at least they know what loft looks like from the outside should they ever come first time and get scared by somthing , usually a blackbirds warning call
billt Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 There are still older fanciers around who don't let them out until the eyes have changed. I did that one year in the 80's, went out like a bunch of whippets, 3 days before I had them all back, best kit of young birds I ever had, all raced the whole programme and won the Y/B Fed ave's , not recommending this to newbies
