today was the day our young birds were finally let out , so far around 14 are out , bit of a disaster as 9 decided to crack off and still havent returned , but they are circulling around the loft hopefully they will come down ill let you know how it goes !!

that was the plan but due to the weather we havent been able to let them out in the past week and a half and even today its a tad windy but they had to go out as they are getting rather strong on the wing , they have an aviary on the front of the loft so they know there surroundings well so hopefully we'll see what happens !

I put my first young birds out the day for the first time but Had them going in and out the trap

for about a week put 3 old hens out with them and they were only looking for the cks so they helped hold them on the loft first time I have done this and it worked very well

Always let my old birds out with the youngsters for about a week then they go  on there own . If anything happens they are there to settle them pretty quickly

i always wean my yb,s in a crate inside the yb loft fed in there and water on , then bring crate outside facing loft so at least they know what loft looks like from the outside should they ever come first time and get scared by somthing , usually a blackbirds warning call

I did that one year in the 80's, went out like a bunch of whippets, 3 days before I had them all back, best kit of young birds I ever had, all raced the whole programme and won the Y/B Fed ave's , not recommending this to newbies
