Guest Vic Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 In my experience of pigeon racing with many years of secretarial duties, I cannot remember a faster winning inland average velocity as this years. We race seven inland races down to the coast, which totals over 1,000 miles. But due to the Amals transporter breaking down on Saturday, the total mileage was just below this. The winning average velocity in my own club the Croxteth H. S. was 1730, which must be at least 200 yds per minute faster than anything in the past. Other clubs will have higher winning averages in Liverpool, no doubt, obviously the further flying Knowsley clubs and perhaps they may be even challenged by a town club this year. > Weather changes are here to stay I reckon.

Guest Vic Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Going by what i have read, into this coming weekends racing. Those that have lost many in the tail winds. DONT SEND. Those who haven't, > send only the ones that wink at you.
Guest Vic Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 By the way what was your clubs winning inland averages?
b.massey Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 North east wind going by xcweather.... They are usually spot on ??)
Guest Vic Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 By the way what was your clubs winning inland averages? I'm SURE that some of you mutts don't know what Vic's talking about! > >
just ask me Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 i think a lot of this is down too people now specialise in either sprint middle or distance and feed and train to win from certain distances i say this in most cases of course where as years gone by people tried to have a all round team wining from sprint to distance most of us are back yard fliers so its hard to have the space too have a team that will compete from the shortest to the longest race so we tend to stick with one or the other
Guest Vic Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 May I ask? ONCE AGAIN! The winning OB inland average in your club. Bloody Hell! Dont you guys know what Vic's talking about?
Guest spin cycle Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 we don't calculate one...the average of our winning velocities this season ( 7 races 60-300 miles) is 1196 ypm. we're a north road club so the se winds are on the nose.
Guest Vic Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Or are your secretaries behind the times, computers, ets and all. >
Guest spin cycle Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 i don't even know the criteria for calculating one (dizzy)...i'm not the sec. however.

Yes fair enough Mate, thanks for the reply. It's the south road clubs I am asking about, Is there any north road clubs in Scotland, if you get the point?
blaz Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 midlothian have had blow home all season or near enough this sat is 300 mile newbury with a NNE wind . it will take a bit of doing for yearlings with it being a NNE wind. its now when you realise how easy it has been on the birds with the wind behind them
Guest Vic Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Maybe I should apologise for thinking that, all south road flying clubs, should follow the same procedure as we in Liverpool. As most know, we have seven straight inland races with the Amalgamation, followed by six consecutive channel races in conjunction with the North West Combine. So it is easy to distinguish averages between short and distance birds. But surely we are not the only ones that compete for inland and channel averages, are we? The thread was raised, because of severe weather changes that have not happened before.
PIGEON_MAN Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 May I ask? ONCE AGAIN! The winning OB inland average in your club. Bloody Hell! Dont you guys know what Vic's talking about? We still have 3 inland races to go in between the channel races.
PIGEON_MAN Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 We still have 3 inland races to go in between the channel races. Just add we had our fastest ever winning velocity known in the club for a inland race this year 2465.353ypm.
Guest Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 We fly east to west but of course we are over the channel at race 4, our average won't help. Can work out if you want it though?
Roland Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Going by what i have read, into this coming weekends racing. Those that have lost many in the tail winds. DONT SEND. Those who haven't, > send only the ones that wink at you. Exactly, and if wearing their Eye liner Pool it!
Guest Vic Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 No thanks Albear, because your routine is out of comparison with the likes of us up here, and would serve no purpose. But I am sure that the L'pool Amal' isn't the only club on the south road that has inland averages, hence the finger tapping.
REDCHEQHEN Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 'inland Averages' in most clubs in the North East is number of points scored velocities don't come into it we have cups for highest and lowest winning velocities - thats all we've also got quite a few inland races to compete in - the last one isn't until Mid July
Guest Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 its given another s/east wind for this coming sat vic m8..so vel might be high for your club again. our club had good vel compared to other years. If that's true Paul that would be awesome, not that my birds are the best but I got two flying over 1900 one over 1950 with my target the golden velocity target for this year at 2000 wind or not.
