hotrod Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Im not going to get involved in politics.. Im just interested in the doos.. only wanted to hear what other members thought on the programme.. everyones intitled to an opinion. At the end of the day we all want whats best for the doos.. of course we all want the best but if you think you are right in what you say you dont just buckle when someone challenges it ,as you have said in a pm to me you havent lost a bird in 3 races from cockenzie WHY CHANGE?
Guest frank dooman Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 well done stuart, was just taking a run down memory lane. :) nothing wrong with that ;)
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I would just rather try and not lose a doo from a race point more in line with Otterburn..
hotrod Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 well done stuart, was just taking a run down memory lane. :) aye the good old days mate . i wish i could blow my own trumpet ,does you beer belly not get in the road lol
hotrod Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Going back to the fed program, after the wetherby race I think we go on the lanarkshire motor, could we not organise our own transporter to continue racing so we would have 2 races at this point restarting at say ottersburn and going through to wetherby again this would benifit bird which had made a mistake or go jnjured early on and also give extra education for latebreds and yearlings you don't want to push too far.all this while the main birds are at the further races. there maybe technical or financial reasons why this couldn't happen but its food for thought. why dont you then (go on the lanarkshire motor) and we will keep using the old giraldy
alec guinness Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 aye the good old days mate . i wish i could blow my own trumpet ,does you beer belly not get in the road lol ;D ;D ;D

Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I think Glasgow should go to every race on our own transporter..
hotrod Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Maybe he means South Lanarkshire :-/ no mate i know exactly what he means ,they all think we came down in the last shower .as most know the caladonian combine has the use of 3/4 transporters one of which is south lanarks the others are glasgow feds and gordon geddes ,s
Guest frank dooman Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I think Glasgow should go to every race on our own transporter.. why do that and cost all fanciers a fortune joint convoying is the only way forward
hotrod Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I think Glasgow should go to every race on our own transporter.. do you know how much that would cost? dont be silly now .

Delboy Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Mcgougan dolan and grey would have won from any direction and any wind in there hayday even from cockenzie So true, Jack McGougan was a very close friend of mine and a brilliant pigeon man. He ran the Glasgow fed with a forward thinking attitude and was always willing to move with the times. Indeed, I think Glasgow fed were the first to use ETS as well as duplicating with the SNFC for Channel races before most feds had thought about it. Alot of folk dont know that Jack was once on the SNFC committee and he stated that the SNFC should be taking feds to the coast races.( 40 years ago ) The rest of the committee thought this ridiculous but look whats happened today, Jacks prediction came true.I spent hundreds of hours on the phone to Jack, talking about pigeons into the small hours of the morning. His enthusiasm for the game after 50 years would put most present fanciers to shame. I do believe the Glasgow fed misses the likes of Jack at the helm, in fact, any fed could do with his administrative qualities, saying this with no disrespect to the present officials but Jack was in a league of his own IMO. Alot of successful fanciers have flew in the Glasgow fed and Jack McGougan from Alexandria was amongst the very best of them. A true gentleman that never got caught up in the jealous back stabbing that goes on in the sport , he was first to congratulate you when you won and first to console you when you lost a good bird. Sadly missed , THE LATE JACK McGOUGAN
BLACK W F Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 after reading most of the posts there s seems to be one thing for sure that lanarkshire will not take you in delboy must be you too good and some must be terified to compete against you JMO moral in the story be an also ran you welcomed be a sucsess and no one wants you have a nice day gents
bullcock Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 why dont you then (go on the lanarkshire motor) and we will keep using the old giraldy Maybe I got the convoyer wrong but what I meant was that gordon only takes our birds so far down the road before using some other transporter( I thought it was the lanarkshire motor but clearly not),my point is that this free's up our own motor after that and we could have extra races starting back at otterburn and going back out to wetherby or wakefield, this would give birds that had made a mistake or got injured a better chance to get educated for the following year. also this same idea could be used when we have 4 weeks in the summer between our last inland and our channel race.
fastblack Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 why does no 1 start up the strathclyde amalgamation thar was a great thing that never really got off the ground but oh dear its all about politics
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Anyone remember which feds made up the West Coast Combine..??
