the hardest thing for birds is hours on the wing which the north section have. because of there distance. but if they come up the east they get every mile they fly in the north. where if u fly in central scotland  if the birds come from the east  they come up 3 valleys ie  gala vally. or the lauder valley or the a1. i think that all the good birds  that get good pos come up the gala valley hoping 2 stop as much of the dog leg as possible but  from the ski slopes they still have 2 dog leg because of the pentland hills they have  2 come round them.  when they come from the west they come out of a74 and dog leg from abinton so either way we have 2 dog leg. which means either side if there birds with them flying  north u cant beat them. but thats pigeon racing. all the best  2 all for 2010. well done caitlin great post.

i your right there alan if it was APRIL 1 THERE WOULD BE A LOT OFF THEM  ;D ON THE WAY NOO TAE 6;000 BUT WHAT IVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED BE A REAL SPORT LET ALL BIRDS HAVE A CHANCE TO HOME ON DAY OF TOSS AFTER ALL HRS OF DARKNESS IS 4.30am to 11pm [ so why is the birds kept till 6 7 8 am holding the birds back that could make it on the night or as close to home as possible and i can assure you thats not rocket science ] and this is definately not a wind up this is the only way you can give everyboady a fair chance in scotland n s e and west cheers  hope yoose all get day doos this year maybe see real posts with out empty drums and monster drums making monster noises  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D cheers  walter

Mist in the channel is the biggest problem with liberation's of that time,midday liberation's would be the answer for yous northerners.

Would be interesting to see just how many 5.00am liberation's there has been in the last twenty years from France.As i said midday is the best solution to give yous guys a fighting chance.

vms ive been sending since 1971 and i cant remember [1] since i started i no mid day libs is as fair as you will get this is pigeon racing every fancier wants to get there birds  in the  sky as quick as posible the amount of times i have heard fanciers say this bird must have been on the door step if only they got up earleier would have got it on the night and iam the same ive timed a few the back of 5am to 6 am in the morning why not give the brave birds that chance to complete the race instead of locking it out i repete again if if if weather permits cheers

alan i know a man in consett barry hemingway in fact i put his phon number on here the last few days under whoes doo he was lling me unc has lib erated as early 4am why cant lib at 5am is unbeliveable [ i once put a post  on here if you cant put the birds up stop the hrs of darkness last bird timed but this was criminal but jus t think put  the boot on the other foot and ask what you would like your birds to fly till dark puts them down and being  thumped by not being let up to get home sorry this is not giving the longest flying birds a chance at 600+miles good flying this year

Fair enough Walter,but if they are not liberated before 09.00  you will have very little chance.So on that basis if they were then held to 13.00 it would give you a level playing field with as much a chance as everyone else.Obviously everyone wants an early liberation but that's not always possible.

doos in first lib next thats the way it works for me thats the thing about doos it dosent suiet every one north west south east but whe still send and get on with it if you dont like it dont send them there are lot of pep who just like to look at there doos and dont go to all the club rasing never mind the nationals ;) ;D ;D

certainley vms you wont get everything right all of the time a NATIONAL RACE SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED AT 9AM BUT SORRY ITS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES IN SNFC WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MID DAY LIB thats what its all about being as fair as posible WHEN THE OPPERTUNITY ARISES ALLOW THE BIRDS TO COMPETE TO THERE ABILITY SOME INFACT A LOT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET HOME ON THE DAY BUT EVEN IF THERES ONLY ONE WHY PUT OBSTECALS IN ITS WAY [AFTER ALL ITS LONG DISTANCE RACING AND THEY NEED PLENTY TIME TO COMPLETE THE COARSE WITHIN HRS OF DARKNESS
