greenlands Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 giving up the racing pigeons after 31 years, dew to constant peregrine attacks, the they are everywhere. Sorry you're giving up mate,it's the same in this area with peregrines and it won't be long to a few more good lads say enough's enough. The RPRA and such as likes can do as many serveys as they want,it won't stop them perigrines killing our birds. Sorry once again mate I know how you feel. Lindsay.
jimmy white Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 giving up the racing pigeons after 31 years, dew to constant peregrine attacks, the they are everywhere. sad when it comes to this,!!! although a very difficult problem, and can only get worse,,although this can make your blood boil members must be careful what they post, due to the implications to p,b,,, but all members in the u k, in my opinion should be pulling from the same rope and in the hope that something positive can be done, on this drastic problem, which is getting worse each year
Guest youngboy Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 sorry to here!! i know them peregrines are all over the shop down south of ireland!! we have a pair in thurles thats 30 miles north west from me!! another pair in killenaule 14 north from me and!! there are another pair in dungarvan thats 35 mile south west from me! my old birds last year were slaughtered!! i was training very early and late with the young to avoid being hit! ill be doing same as ths year!
Guest stb- Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 would you not keep your birds lock up in the winter months most fanciers do its a time when they will strike every day 27 thats a lot of birds seems a good idea Anto but the problem is when you let them out after being looked up so long you loose far more than that when there not fit m8
Guest youngboy Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 ya this winter gone was a lock up winter for me as weather was to wet and windy where i was then the snow and really cold weather!! only leaving them out again over the last 2 weeks while weather is good and some are very fat! but they will soon loose it when i pair up!!
ch pied Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Fight Back ,,,,,,,, Attrition , Grind them down . ;)
Roland Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 A drop of cooking oil on the back of the pigeons neck dried up with something the bop wont like?? works very well Feel for you wattle. Salt. As recommend by the RSPCA and RSPB. Was used to clear districts of any B.O.P to great effect. Not knocking, but peronally I never understand why more fanciers don't use it when letting out, or training etc. I know one must have then a feeling that they are sacrificing their birds. Shouldn't it really be looked at a helping any and every other bird?
ch pied Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 when did you get the shooting range target on yer avatar mick ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
