I've been advised to treat my birds for canker before I pair up - just as a matter of routine, they are not ill or anything.

Which is the best/easiest product to treat a flock of 24 birds and where do I get it, is it prescription only?

Thanks Sue.

Don't matter ... as long as you change it to another after 2 -3 times being used. There are near 30 - somewhere I read now over 50 strains, and they very quickly get immuned to any remedy... A nastatin base one may take a lot longer...

we are novices do we have to treat for this as or birds look just fine :-/

canker is very common and each of us have a slight bit of it now and again. if youve never treated then it wouldnt hurt to treat this once.

if your not sure about anything just ask on here...theres always loads of advice.

one thing about emtryl powder, make sure you dont over dose in the summer when its hot..birds will drink more excessive and will take in more of the emtryl than normal. thus resulting in emtryl poisioning which can make the birds look drunk.

Well if there is nothing wrong with your birds you shouldn't have to treat them.

I understand that even those who do treat regularly during racing (April - September) don't at this time of year.

Well I believe that once you start treating for it, then you will have to keep treating for it, or so it seems. Have had birds that were, and had never been treated... till I did them lol.

Read a great topic on another site where just one youngster in the nest gets it and not the other.

Of course simple logical answers for that.
