jimmy white Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 whats the difference from ivermectin :-/ think their both the same mac,,, just like panadol ,,paracetamal.. same thing,, different name
showman Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 From memory.........Norbrook laboratories in Newry took the license to manufacture, and changed the name.
gorsy bank lofts Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 noromectin is a horse wormer, prob same sort of active ingredient as ivomectin never used it but have used equalan ivomectin based horse wormer (if theres any spare when the horses have been done) i use a good inch of the paste in warm water to dissolve then put it in drinker.
mac1 Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 when giving our birds ivermec drops how soon after are they lice/mite free
gorsy bank lofts Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 dont expect them drops to last long mac over the last 5 yrs every one who makes it have lowered the % of active ingredient in it (ivomectin) so you have to buy more and do it more often (what a racket) used to be 10% and would last the season and was made for calves. have you tried chlorocarb and dipped them??? lyndon

Guest vander mungo Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 ill tell you open the wing like a show judge hold it uo against direct sunlight ,or strong 100,watt bulb look only at the quill not the feather. if infected youll see little dots each side of the quill. easier to spot on a white clear quill, most fanciers are iignorant to the problem, but has been one in our club for 4 years

Guest IB Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Quill mite means a different mite to me, and its hard to get rid of. Syringophilus gets through the quill wall, and lives inside it, beneath the level of the birds skin. Its mouthparts are shaped like a syringe needle, it sticks that through the quill wall into the pulpy sublayers of the skin, and sucks from it. Adult female gives birth to a single live juvenile. Ivermectin should get rid of it, but fipronil is said to be better. Not a lot published out there on this mite.
