Its not any type of quiz, i'm just interested to know what people think, especially if you see a good breeding eye (what would be the best pair)! Andrew, i never been a fan of eyesign, 30 years in the game and just liked a nice colourful bright eye. But when an "eyesign expert" goes into your mates loft and picks what he says is the best old bird in the loft, and that bird has never been raced, you would say he is nuts, but in fact 2 races later this pigeon has won the National Flying Club, so maybe there is something in it from the right people???

If you want to evaluate the eyesign of a pigeon, it is best to do it after the racing season. Rank the birds in order of their results and then look at the eyes. My problem in the grading of eyesign is that if it worked the "Experts" would be unbeatable. And again if it worked there would be no point in races. All we would need to do would be to check the eyesign before the race and award the prizes. Think of the money we could save if we could stop training. The problem of the BOP would be solved. There would be no need to let the birds out. Do you know there are a lot of fads and fantasies in pigeon racing and eyesign must rank as one of the biggest. It can be put up there with the idea of Strains and Wing Theory. Quickly followed by the Golden Couple. The short cut to winning pigeons is easy enough to follow. Just pair the best to the best, over and over again. This is regardless of origins, but avoiding close relations.

bullcock Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 2 is the best breeding eye as most seem to agree but 14 is also a good breeding eye I would pair them with good racing eyes such as 5,6,9. so my pick would be 2 with 5 and 14 with 9. ps they are all nice and more importantly healthy.

Also there are 5 birds that are related, and 2 have won very well. If someone can 100% identify these 7 birds i might give them a pick of a pair of my YBs in 2010!

jimmy white Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 i am no eyesign expert, and feel there are many like me in the fancy, i think the problem is, there is also many who THINK their eyesign experts, but like me, know very little,[there are also many who DO know about iridology/ eyesign],,,.although a very interesting subject, as , are all subjects on racing pigeons. to me, eyesign means very little, apart from showing good health,[with due respect] and only my opinion, after many years racing pigeons i have found that, as a fancier having the ability, the management, and good honest working pigeons,and to be able to bring good pigeons in to "form" at the time needed, is far more important ,, but i will hazard a guess lol ;D at the two which have won well ,,,,,,,5 and 9
