Some have a problem with red mite,, birds come off the young in the nest ,, If you are having a problem with them use tobacco stalks as nest material.. or use a powder from battles and put under the nest felts and in the nest..

still have 20 healthy young without any problems mayybe i am an unlucky starter as only staarting to race this year

 

There's a reason why your losing them, its best you get to the bottom of it.

red mite not very active in cold frosty weather

There was a problem with certain people using the black nest felts, better sticking to the brown ones, JMO, the hens could be getting unsettled, and chased off the nests, check you have no rodents about in your loft.

 

Hope you get the problem fixed out mate, dont wont to loose anymore,  :)

yea it worries me as i have to wait over a month for same to happen again

 

would get your dropping's  tested, and  ask for a  paratyphoid test, salmonella  again  cold weather  to blame also  so its any as the guys say rats  getting the hen of the nest rats pissing about yer loft mice would say mice are the  worse to have  as the take 2 steps and p*ss every where the would go up to squabs and lick  there faces of milk  >:( >:(

sounds like the nest felts cant beat good old fashioned gased straw  ;)

i would not use them felts... hand full of shavings each bowl and as many tabacco stalks cut up as they need.... mikey...

i know lots say  rats but ive seen hens sitting tight even when a cat gets in the loft and ive also lost a full round of 14 day old to the stoat and even some of the hens sat tight then  the mother thing  takes over and i dont think it would chase 5 hens off the nest dropping test and look at something they have eaten food or something out side the loft
