Didn't notice any difference with the birds on Matrix :)

why would grit make a difference.? at least with the matrix you know your bird is taking the grit.

ive been giving this to the birs since mac1 told me about it cant fault it theres every thing the birds need and im glad to be rid of all my pots it is a bit costly though but if you only have a small team its not so bad not seen much change in the birds though just makes things easyer for me.

Lads,  Matrix was never meant to be a Gem product as such. Mike Lycett and I were having a conversation about Grit/Minerals etc in the loft and it was born so to speak. I produced it for Mike and the lads that came in to my unit. Word got out about it and we were unindated with orders. I am the fist to admit it is expensive for what it is. However the cost is in the manual labour time it takes to put together. It is to messy for a machine. Why not make it yourselves ?  Some one mentioned we do not tell you what is in it, nothing could be further from the truth. It tells you on the label what exactly is in the 'tin' The grit is the finest you can buy and that is BEYERS ! No secrets just a superb product that happens to be pricey. Think about the amount of grit & minerals you actually throw away because it is dirty (which it gets within minutes of been down) and some times because the birds eat every drop it does'nt seem so expensive.

Best Regards

Brian

I saw where several of you are adding brewers yeast to your grit just curious as to why I use brewers yeast but I always add it to the food with some oil ?

I don't think that we can get this product here but I mix my own grit and I change it seasonally I use granite ( white ), oyster shell, a mixed grit which contains charcoal, and byers pickstone, I also add some mineral powder to this I give LOTS of oyster before and during breeding and lots of granite during fall and early winter

I also leave grit down all year so my birds have ready access

P.S. we get a product here called Des Moines pigeon grit ( Des Moines is the name of the company ) it is wonderful stuff my birds love it !!!

good stuff for the breeders a little pricey £5 a tub -- i tend to do what tasker does i buy a bag of grit & add crumble blocks ,picking stones , brewers yeast , red & black minerals , then i give it to the breeders in small amounts fresh every other day i also feed them homaform & mix it with vit energy

Absolutely spot on.

Buy all these products, mix it yourself.Goes a long way and the birds love it.

I've just started using it and the birds love it notice it contains aniseed through so that could possibly be something to do it with it. I still provide grit and pickstone and give them a small amount of matrix as a treat

it's the aniseed the birds are going for its also put in redband cheaper to use redband if needs must

Just really repeating whats been said, it is expensive but not much more than buying all the bits and making it yourself, the birds love it and at the risk of sounding bone idle when youre working full time its one job made easier.

It's just a case of finding what suits you and your birds, what works in one loft doesnt necessarily work in another,Matrix doesnt work for me but other products do so basically if your birds are thriving just keep using whatever you are using I suppose :)
