slinky slitheroe Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Just been on the louella site i see some old pigeons for sale at 100 pounds each with no guarantee does that mean you pay a hundred pounds plus carriage to find out the old thing is infertile and thats it; your hard earned cash down the tubes. If thats the way it works then i think its a bad advert for louella.
pigeonworld Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 ;D ;Dyou pay your cash you take you chance ;D ;D ;D
PIGEON_MAN Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 As they say you pays ya money and takes ya chance, some of those birds would have cost hundreds years ago and I suppose with old hens being moved they could become in fertile.
leighton1984 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 the price when they was young will have been more than £100 but price is not the thing when you bring in new birds. you pay your money and you just try them. we did pay £5 at a sale and it went on to win a big race for us as a young bird the year after she was killed by a hawk so that pigeons for you.

It's very simple...don't buy 'em !! Let someone else have the opportunity. Perfectly OK for Louella to sell them like this.

billt Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 i think anything that comes from louella is bad (puke)(puke) Thats madness, there have been many winners bought from louella
Guest BRYANBROCK Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Thats madness, there have been many winners bought from louella i am not dispututing that fact it just my opinion
holmsidelofts Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Look at it this way louella purchases hundreds of birds a year. most are untested and they get them back to louella and pair them up to produce more untried birds these birds then produce your youngsters you buy. Most of the old birds they are selling off probably havent produced that much over the years. You dont see birds like invincible spirit up for sale as an old bird do you. They are only getting rid of the rubbish thats not producing anything, if that was not the case why isnt the superstars they buy up for sale when they are past it. Thats just my theory and thats the reason why i would never buy from a stud like that.
slinky slitheroe Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 have you had a bad deal frome them ;) No No ive done ok way some fae louella but they were bred from young stock and no some auld geriatric.
pigeonworld Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 No No ive done ok way some fae louella but they were bred from young stock and no some auld geriatric. how did you no they where of young stock ;)

slinky slitheroe Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 how did you no they where of young stock ;) I read the pedigree. What iam saying is this louella have a futtin cheek to ask the fancier to take that chance for a start the pigeon should be replaced if its infertile end of story.
billt Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I think you'll find they buy the top racers at top prices, not untried birds

slinky slitheroe Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 I think you'll find they buy the top racers at top prices, not untried birdsThey buy plenty untried bird dont kid youself.

If memory serves...Smith, Croston & Smith purchased direct Van Geel stock birds from the Louella stud when the birds were still part of their breeding program. Big money yes, but Louella sold them !
billt Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 They buy plenty untried bird dont kid youself. From the winning studs

micci Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 In 1981 i had a couple of strays bought with a a job lot transferred to me, the hen had a broken wing, long timed healed ,the cock no ring, the previous owner had cut it off due to a broken leg... this pair bred me over 20 individual 1st prize winners, when i packed in the origional Busschaerts i had aquired went like hot cakes, (No sale for this pairNo pedigree), the cock went on to breed the same amount of winners for the new owner out to Thurso 434 miles, Eye-Sign played a big part in this, and im sure that if you have stock sense, you will get some real bargains from Louella as many have done over the years
holmsidelofts Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 this is ufonded they have paid the most money not just for there racing team but the hol famlie of birds so to say thay have not been tested is wrong thay have bout more champing birds than any one in the uk facts ;D ;D ;D based upon the amount of birds they breed each year its a very small % of birds that wins and thats fact, I dont dispute they have purchased quality birds over the years but compare them to the likes of M&D Evans theres no comparison in how many champions they breed. I have purchased birds in the past from louella and the quality of these have been rubbish. maybe thats just bad luck on my part but i would never go there.
