jimmy white Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 i know innes bros of gilmerton won the 1967 snfc avaranches race with" kingston tree top" i think this pigeon was a cattryse going back to les numan,, if my memory serves me right, w kinnear and son had birds related to kingston tree top, which i would imagine would be in some of the breeding of his national winners and prizewinners in recent years

Tony C Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Reg Barker had the Cattryse around here many moons ago, still think these bloodlines are winning up and down the country.
robbiedoo. Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 i think ernie goodyear has some aswell .
Albear Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 There are some hidden gems I think down at Graham Moss in Stratford, he had some fantastic A H Bennet Van Braunes, including sons of Long Mynd Hermes, unfortunatley I came acrss him mwhen they were 15/16 yo (approx). But he had some super Cattrysse too and they were lovely pigeons, not sure if the y were Davenport or th other guy who was top of the tree around the same time, someone will remember him. And I think he had an advert in the BHW the last wek ortwo before, very recent anyway, I think ther may be some gems there at a very reasonable price. I have not been there for about 7 years though, and he has not flown competitivley for many years but don't let that put you off, I think he works on best to best bloodlines and he did hav very close to the tree.
PIGEON_MAN Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Here is another name connected with the cattrysse pigeons from way back which some of the older members may remember Mons Slabbinke, could of been loft manager or son in law.

Guest lenwadebob Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 The late Les Varney of Hoddesdon had a fantastic stud of the Cattrysse pigeons that won out of turn. He won the LNRC on a couple of occasions with these birds. If memory serves me correct one of these was called "Metro". His birds were all sold after his death so the stud is probably scattered far and wide now. Mark Bulled from this site may know more as to their whereabouts.
greenlands Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 had a mealy pied cattrysse van geel/reel? cross ..threw out great over the water birds. died a few seasons back..wish i still had him....came in as a stray ,brought to me from a neighbour with an hungry cat..reported it to ireland..if my memory serves me right a mrs keegan? Might be coincidence Paul,I got a Mealy cock in must be 20 years ago now, belonged to Keegan bros, Lisburn, Co Antrim. That was a crackeraswell bred good birds just for the fun of it. Lindsay
Wizzer Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Brought in two pairs from Les Davenport nearly 30 years ago. I had the strain in my birds right up to 2005. Best pigeons I ever had. Good hardy birds.
Wizzer Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 found they crossed well with the Vanhee.
greenlands Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 A lot of the lads in this area that had them crossed them with Dordins apart from winning races you couldn't beat them in the show pens,my late mate use to play hell about them too bloody big he would say,he liked van reels. Lindsay
