mackems Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 mine were picked up on thursday morning received on monday ten oclock at night but they were very polite on the phone though
cemetary Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 If i was getting pigeons picked up, i am expecting them to be delivered in good condition with no problems, bashed boxes, and the birds in a bad state, i have never used them so i cant really comment on there delivery service. I was told northern pigeon couriers are good to deal with, has any body used them latley.

cemetary Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Its just to see what the birds condition are in, and if someone from cooperlogistics are a member on here, they should be explaining what the hell went wrong. Not good publicity this one.
harky Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I am sure he is a member if not he does watch the postings I CAN ASSURE IF HE DOES READ THE POSTINGS THEN HE WILL NOT ANSWER HIS PMS,THEY DELIVERED MY BIRD 5 DAYS AFTER PICKING IT UP AND IT WAS ONLY A SQUEEKER AND IM STILL 35 QUID OUT OF POCKET AS AN EARLIER POST SAID HES ONLY INTERESTED IN HIS POCKET, TO THOSE PIGEON MEN GIVING THIS MAN CUSTOM CARRY ON HE WILL BE FOUND WANTING IN THE END
Guest Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 That is why some are setting up holding lofts, personally I would prefer birds picked up one day then delived the next without the need for what can go wrong if the birds are mixed with others in a holding loft[/quote] me too,
cemetary Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Am the same, birds picked up on a monday, and delivered to the house at on the wednesday morning.
DOVEScot Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 That is why some are setting up holding lofts, personally I would prefer birds picked up one day then delived the next without the need for what can go wrong if the birds are mixed with others in a holding loft me too, It was mentioned on another post that nasties could be carried in on shoes and clothes to other lofts so why is it any diffent with holding lofts, these couriers are visiting loads of lofts in one day. And does anyone vet these holding lofts or even the fancier to see if they are suitable :-/
tippler1 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 i honestly think when amtrax finnished all these people thought it a good idea to jump on the band waggon to get rich quick thinking its a easy job but then it back fired as thay is to much work for them and hafe the time thay are out of pocket so thay keep the birds till thay is more birds pick up to cover the cost but thats just what i think
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 well tip i recon you hit nail on head there
cemetary Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 If thats whats happening, i dont think they will be getting much service from the pigeon guys.
slatey Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 i voiced my concerns on pigeon chat over pigeons being in depot over 4 or 5 days and plenty of other questions to get shot down they have had an advert in b h w over last 5 weeks and nowhere does it say they may be in depot for up to 4 or 5 days b h w should make them put in there advert about pigeons could be held in there depot for up to 5 days until they got a van going in to the given area
PigeonTracker Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 That is why some are setting up holding lofts, personally I would prefer birds picked up one day then delived the next without the need for what can go wrong if the birds are mixed with others in a holding loft In an ideal world everyone would love to have their birds picked up and delivered the same day but its not an ideal world and it will take some time for any courier including my company to get to the stage where we can deliver every bird within hours as some people want. In the meantime we'll do our best to make sure cross contamination is kept to a minimum by never mixing the birds as you might be led to believe. They are never given water from the same cup, and never mixed in lofts other than boxed. For the information of those that might be curious, holding lofts (in our case) are isolation units where the birds get to stay overnight if needed, they aren't even taken out of the boxes at the same time duncan they get their heads dipped and given corn each one at a time. I'm not into disrespecting other couriers regardless of the merit, what I am into is getting it across to people that creating a false sense of panick amongst people is the wrong way to go. If people are to be so concerned with cross contamination then quite honestly not one of us would put a bird in a race and that's pretty much a fact. I along with a thousand others complained like hell when Amtrak got away with thier antics and now I see people constantly having a dig at couriers (some deserve it btw). If people are that concerned and so distrustful of couriers then surely they should be jumping in their own cars and getting their own birds, that way they could blame no-one else but themselves. Sorry guys but it had to be said, there are some of us out there that are working damn hard at getting it right for everyone, it will take some time and its only been 5 weeks or so and we're getting there. Work with the courier and you'll get the service we all deserve even if it takes a little longer than we all want. Jamie
little sam Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I CANT COMPLAIN, ONE OF MY BIRDS I BOUGHT WAS WITH THEM FOR 4 DAYS, CAME IN GOOD CONDITION AND NO SMASHED FLIGHTS, CANT KNOCK THEM JUST THINK, IF IT WAS AMTRAK YOUR BIRD WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN DEAD :-/

Jamie Nobody is having a dig, Jamie, as I have said on the site and in person to you, this is a pigeon forum where we voice our opinions and concerns Until a nationwide network is in full operation then picking up one day and getting it the next is not going to happen in all cases and there will be times it is not financially viable to deliver birds for days These holding lofts or isolation units as you call them, what were they before or are they purpose built by yourselves and where are they so if a member or customer is in the area we could drop in and have a look at them. One point is that there are a percentage of people like myself that can be flexible and at home if you are a day late but there is a percentage that can only be there in a window in time that couriers state as they have other commitments or can't take time off if the delivery times are not upheld Jumping in your car and doing it yourself is not the best attitude because we have concerns or questions regarding couriers and their services :-/
Guest challengerlofts Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 mine, from Warren Foster. arrived safe & well.
Roland Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Pigeon Tracker wrote it! I couldn't have put it better myself. I for instance had a Loan bird off Allbear. Costs and whatever meant I delivered it myself. I was standing in for a mate on a courier firm. Alan abided his time, and we got the deal done 260 miles or more EACH way. I have some birds to collect from Alan. Could have gone to - day, but it fell through last minute. My avery is done, an 1/2 day and the stock loft will be done and complete. If not possible for my mate to let me do the day when we go Bristol soon... I will pick them up myself, most likely will soon any way. Why?. Because, I grantyou I really appreciated Alan's knowledge and understanding. Have a graet but oh so too short stay with him. Indeed if another offer I made comes of, I will be seeing him and his club members. But in mean time, within the week, I shall drive over 500 miles to pick up some birds (Hopefully). Yes I can make time. Yes it will be more expensive than a courier, But I shall be more than compensated by spending a little time with another fancier.
