swilcox Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Ive just been studying some pedigrees that are online and being auctioned soon. On one side of the pedigree the father is bred from a 16 year cock paired to a 14 year old hen. The cock isnt unusual but i dont know many hens who breed at 14 year old esp paired to a 16 year old cock. Whats the oldest hen uv had still breeding
gangster Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 10 YEARS OLD ONLY 1 GOOD EGG THOUGH
ALF Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 A good pal of mine bought a 13 yr old hen for buttons that was the mother of some good pigeons to score with the SNFC and she filled every egg that year and reared a pair of them herself no problem
swilcox Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Red lady was finished at 14 years old but she was paired to a young cock, she only laid a 4 eggs after 12 years old, wouldnt have risked her with a 16 year old cock.

swilcox Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Dutch sprinters are normally finished at 11-12 max but ofcoarse there are exceptions, its quite common for red and mealy pigeons to keep there fertility.

Guest IB Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Because I bring young pigeons in, I find that means my pairings tend toward 'old paired to young', rather than old pigeons paired together. My oldest cock is 9 this year. Mate for 2010 likely to be a 2 -yo. My oldest hen is 3 this year. Mate for 2010 likely to be a yearling latebred.
Guest ENDFLIGHT Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 the best ever channel bird i hadsu73l5559blue hen her sire was a 16 year old,but her dam was only a yearling
