REDCHEQHEN Posted January 25, 2020 Report Posted January 25, 2020 Our local corn merchant has stopped selling Gem corn, but I've never used their malting barley, just use farm barley
greenlands Posted January 25, 2020 Report Posted January 25, 2020 Has anyone purchased gem malting barley recently .I've been feeding it for years but just recently I have noticed it's been poor quality has anyone noticed thisBeen using Gem for some years now, their barley is exceptional, couldn't fault it in any way, especially at £5:50 for 20 Kg.From.Bartholomews agri food Ltd.Chichester
leslie24williams49 Posted January 28, 2020 Report Posted January 28, 2020 Had a price list for gem corn today lots of green on list meaning prices have come down so worth taking a look again, bit of info.
freddy1980 Posted January 29, 2020 Report Posted January 29, 2020 yes the malting barley this year is very poor quality so far so hopefully they will get a new batch soon
philg50 Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Aye but it must be last years crop you are getting now .Now as far as i know malting barley and feed barley no difference except malting has a lower moisture content before being accepted ,so personally farm barley if cheaper for me IMO.
kapri 07 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Report Posted January 31, 2020 Instead of wasting it I'm feeding the wood pigeons 🤣🤣🤣
Hamfergy Posted February 1, 2020 Report Posted February 1, 2020 The difference between mallting barley and feed barley is the nitrogen content and sometimes the bushel weight
