If we can track or pigeons in flight using satellite and now we can control their flight we will be racing pigeons like racing model air planes.

Breed the birds and enter them in one loft races you get a training result every day and no sit from club members. There will come a time when pigeon fanciers who have put people out of the sport will be begging them to come back to their club to make up 5 members.

A great read, could the crop microflora of the pigeon milk be cultured and give to the birds on a weekly basis?

You can put the eggs from the stock birds under the racers or one egg under, if you like single reared but I do not think it makes much of a difference to the racing ability of the young if it was single reared. The only difference you will see in a single reared this time of year is it will not have any fret marks on the 3rd flight. When two young birds are in the nest at this time of year they will get fret marks on 3rd flight. This is because as they grow they get to a size when the parent is unable to cover them and keep them warm just before they get their on feathers. You never get theses 3rd flight fret marks on single reared or in heated lofts or summer bred. So the next time you lift a mates young bird and it has no fret marks on the 3rd say to him this is a single reared he will confirm it then ask how you knew don't tell him. I would also add if a pair of birds can not rare two young in the nest they should not be bred from.

The Handel and lock sit on top and not flush so stacking one on top of the other would not be possible.

I like you used to it for same reason until I found out it is bad for the feather.

With ETS pigeon racing will become like most other races and that is the fastest from A to B wins. For the first time we will have a finish line that the bird crosses and when it does its true time will be recorded. As it stands two birds could enter the loft together and there could be a full min between them in the clocking time. So one could be credited with coming first and the other 50th. Most of us have colored TVs, central heating, cars with automatic chokes, and anyone reading this has a computer, You see times change and weather we like it or not we change with them. I hear people say it will kill the sport and fanciers will leave. Why is the sport growing in numbers in the USA from they approved ETS. Why do the fanciers that use ETS say they would never go back to the old system. How can we say it is bad for the sport when tens of thousands of fanciers from all over the world are happy using it. I have been in a club in Holland on race marking night and they do not even have to handle the birds the fancier puts his basket in front of a Perspex tunnel and the birds leave the basket up the tunnel over the sensor plate and into race basket. As fast as the birds walk up the 24ins tunnel they are race marked.

Taking a young bird out of nest and into the young bird loft is not the same as taking them out and having them on floor with old birds to feed them. I think there has been some misunderstanding I myself would take one of the young birds out of nest and put it on the floor of the young bird section with the hen the other I leave with the cock. Each young bird is well looked after and the cock is not driving the hen to nest. I would not put the young birds on the floor with the cocks in loft as some cocks will scalp the young birds. The point I was making was I would rather leave a young bird in the nest than take it to young bird loft where there are no old birds to feed it before it can eat.

What good can it do to have a young bird go without food for a couple of days before it can feed for its self. Never will I take a bird that cannot feed and leave it until it learns to. All your doing is hurting the bird by making it go without food. Your own experience in this game has proved throughout the years that taking them away before they can feed does what Vic? Does it make them better do they fly faster are they happy warm and content while starving tell me? Give me one good reason why letting a young bird go without food is better than making sure it has the food? There are two things I never argue with and nature is both of them. I my view there is only one way and that is to have your young birds fed watered and content.

The USB fits into the ETS the other end into the computer printer port.

I think some people are missing the point and that is Pigeon racing not rubber clocking. Making your pigeon fly the fastest form A to B is what pigeon racing is about. You can be 10 seconds faster taking a rubber off you bird and clocking it but if your bird is 5 min's slower you will not win. It is the pigeons that do the racing not the fancier all this talk about playing foot ball in wheel chairs etc has nothing what so ever to do with ETS. ETS is just a device that records a time just like any other clock the only difference is you do not need to put a rubber in it to prove the bird arrived at that time. I could have my son or friend put the rubber in a clock if I am not at the loft so what has me putting a rubber in a clock got to do with winning a race? Nothing. If a disabled person using ETS can time a bird without having to put a rubber into a clock then why not let them? ETS is only recording the time the bird arrived it has nothing to do with how fast that bird flew from A to B. Do you like clocking birds is that what gives you fun then keep doing it no one is stopping you but do not try telling people they should not be in the sport if they cannot. You use whatever time recording device you want and let others use the time recording device they want. If you think ETS will win you more races then buy ETS that is your choice, the disabled person has no choice.

I think you can use a USB to Serial port Converter. here is link http://www.it247.com/Product/1360-633808502003?gclid=CLmM6ZmdyooCFQm0EAodPHkXdQ

Ireland had an unfair advantage as they had ETS on their touch line.

Get a part time job it will give you something else to do and help pay for the cost of your hobby.

How much is ets to set up in loft? Will all clubs use the same ets system?
-
I just telephoned 4 men from my club who said they would leave the sport if ETS was passed and ask them when they were having their clearance sale. If all the talk about leaving the sport that was done before it was passed comes true then there will be clearance sales by the thousands.

School work comes first, make pigeon racing your hobby not your life spend an hour in the morning with them before school then an hour after school and all weekend if you like but dont shut away friends and life.
-
Wean your young birds when they are seen eating out of pot in nest box. I would rather leave them in nest 5 days more than take them out 1 day early.
-
You can treat for pests, cocci, canker, worms, etc that will not affect the immune system.
-
No Just 9 to 5 but what you say about sun rise is a good point as it has been said you will lost fewer young birds if they can see the sun rise. I am going to look into this more and if there is any proof that this is true I will then change my time from 7 till 3 and later on then 6 till 2.

100% dark for me, feed the birds 1 hour 30 min's before you darken that gives the birds time to come down for 2nd drink as the first will be soaked up with the feed.

If your club has average prizes then it is part of the game to put as many birds in front of the other members as you can to stop them getting the points. If club members don't like guys clocking lots of birds then they should do away with the average prizes. ETS has benefits and if every fancier had it then for the fist time the clocking of birds would be equal. There is nothing equal about the clocking of birds as it stands. Will it make the clocking of birds for those who have it faster? Yes. Is it unfair for those that cannot afford to buy ETS? Yes. Should we stop people training their birds by car, stop people buying in faster birds or buying the very best corn and products because it will gives them an advantage over the ones that cannot afford to. I don't think so and have never heard anyone say we should so why should we stop people having ETS just because other people cannot afford to? If every member of every club was getting the ETS for free I do not think there would be to many against it.

I do not understand about he wont put the birds on the result sheet what difference does that make? Just put marker rings on the one loft birds and time them into a different clock You yourself then can do the one loft birds result. It is not a case of trust as you are looking after the birds anyway and could stop a bird from winning if you so pleased. All you will need is a copy of the rubber ring that was put on race sheet then you will know what birds had them on when you open the clock or you can just write them down as they come in. There is a way round everything just find it.

How can so many sad men be all members of the same club? A club can make as many rules as it likes but not one of them rules can break the law of the land. They cannot discriminate against you because you have to care for a disabled child and that child cannot be left on their own. I would ask them if they will take responsibly for the welfare of the child if anything should happen because you left the child unattained. If not then they have no choice but to let you have the child with you in club. Personally I would not want to be in same room as these sad men who think it is better to stop a father and disabled child from enjoying this sport than it is to change a rule. If this sport has members that cannot make allowances for a man who has to care for a disabled child then I am ashamed to say I am part of it.
