  1. Saddler Our top 'lesbian' hen was a roundabout hen as a yearling, however her mate failed to return from a race, she quickly took the opportunity to eye up a hen in her rest section, when l noticed this l placed a nest bowl in the corner of the section for the 'pair'. Another hen made it a threesome and in no time at all there was 6 eggs and 3 hens fussing over the nest. These 3 hens took some beating , infact they were awesome, they all won races plus other prizes over a period of a month including as previously mentioned a fed win. The top hen now a 4 year old has never been a lesbian since but still wins good prizes although at times I can sense her confusion as to what side to bat for
  2. Having reams of adverts is one thing but having pages of quality reading is another.... the RP is streets ahead ;D ;D
  3. Alfons Bauwens ;D
  4. We have raced Roundabout in the past , the main observation was when a bird returns home and finds their mate aint in the box..... their look says it all and this affects them for the following week. A couple of years ago we were seriously considering packing in racing hens , since then our last 2 channel national wins have been won by hens.... ;D One final point , we currently have a super hen in our race team , she topped the fed from 220 miles , she was a lesbian hen..... Chris
  5. Only breed from the stock birds The racers are for racing , nothing else
  6. Good post Bruno So what are the SHU doing I wonder , as a matter of interest there is no mention of the RSPB either Chris
  7. Henrik , ooh I sense I have touch a nerve ;D ;D ;D Still waiting for the agenda for that illfated AGM just like loads of others, you can bet your bottom dollar if we all received agendas there would have been more than 30 attending...... sorry like , but the truth hurts , so dont give the crap about the agenda The SHU and ETS sneaks are soley to blame for all this mess , no one else ;D Jock Spark heads for the sun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  8. I complete against fanciers that have ETS and yes I have been pipped for the red card by a couple of seconds, as always I congratulate the winner and hold no grugdes, but what relly pi$$es me off is the secretive manner in which ETS was implemented in Scotland, I NEVER had the opportunity to have a say on the matter like many others. "It is progress" , this is one of the many worn out records I hear, anything that causes so much ill feeling and forces fanciers to leave the sport must surely be classed as an evil , certainly not progress !!!!
  9. Nah , no chance , earlier posts have highlighted my thoughts. I like to win races fairly without having to resort to a system which claws back a few seconds from a manual clocker. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. A tragic loss , I really feel for Ras.
  11. How about a loose layer of mesh slightly raised off the aviary roof, the hens will not land on it.... Chris
  12. Roundo - there is no need to apologise , far from it . This thread is available for all to read and reply if they wish. No memeber is forced to read threads , it is their choice. I aint gonna lose any sleep over it , not a wink and I will continue posting on the matter , no one will stop me. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  13. Clockman - Have no worries , my feds first race is a massive 38 miles to our lofts ;D ;D
  14. The main family we house are Alfons Bauwens , these are the best birds we have owned , a very honest family capable of winning from 40 miles but they really pull their socks up once we hit the 200 mile barrier, had them winning out to 556 miles. These are supplemented with a touch of Desmet Matthys and Van Der Pol. All three of these families were obtained via The Maestro.... A sprinkling of Van Reets and Frans Laeremans make up our successful sprint team. Other families are currently on trial , one of which I expect to make a HUGE impact quite soon ;D
  15. Of the three national winners we have in our lofts, I have experienced the good fortune of timing in two of them. The first being in 2002 and I can still recall every detail of those few seconds. The glimpse of our widower in the horizon going like a rocket and I mean like a rocket, as he approached the loft the wings folded and he screamed through the door landing on his box and began battering his nest box front in. Those few seconds were simply awesome, my heart was pounding out of my chest and as I entered his section to lift him from his box the adrenalin rush went into overdrive, the sheer feeling of holding a national winner, removing a rubber, entering it in a thimble and popping it in the STB followed by the banging of the clock is out of this world that words cannot describe. The cock won the race by 50 ypm, was I turned on...... what do you think !!!! I just simply cannot visualise me having the same feelings with ETS, watching a bird home, pop through a hole and listening of the beep..... whooopy doo , not for me ;D ;D
  16. Welcome to the forum Jack ;D ;D ;D
  17. Yeah , you're right. There are many factors against us right from the start but yet many will use them as excuses as well when they dont win.....
  18. There is no such thing as a level playing field in pigeon racing and there never will be.
  19. Words of Wisdom from Scottie lad, well said ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  20. Thing is though , not all progress is good. How can the introduction of ETS be classd as progress when it is pushing people out of the sport.... Chris ;D ;D ;D
  21. Jock Spark it is ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  22. Dandydoo Like this site , plenty of good banter , Pipa was getting out of hand.... So then , do you use ETS Chris
  23. Cheers Mike..... well said , nice to see someone on my side ;D ;D Dandydoo - I have no problems at all whatsoever with the RPRA setup, we have been members of the union for several years, long before the outbreak of political warfare. The Cumbrian Region is very well run by a group of well respected and very able guys, it gave us great pleasure last year when when our champion hen won a RPRA award. What are you jibbering about in calling me a walker, I never walk away from anything, wether it be at home, work or pigeons..... of course I have a CHOICE , we are have been members of the SHU and SNFC for 18 years and have no intentions at all whatsoever of leaving them..... sorry like , give yerself a shake. Forthview - I sincerly hope the SNFC grab the ETS issue by the horns and implement a common sense approach to the system, it will be interesting to see how this will be managed. I do have my reservations as to how this will be achieved.... Henrik / Clockman - You tell me to keep the newly formed SNRPC , now why would I do that , cmon give me a reason. What I will say is , the club gave us so much pleasure last season, obviously the highlight was winning the Cholet race with the only bird on the day, this remarkable feat was made all the more astonishing as the hen beat everything flying 100 miles less than her and only a very small handfull beat her flying even less than that. What was quite touching was the number of calls and letters we received from fanciers congratulating us on the win, this included officals from the SNFC. As for creaming your pants about the fact there is only one GOLD CUP race in Scotland, I am well aware of this , calm down dear, we have never missed an SNFC gold cup race and never intend to either...... As Mike rightly points out we have also had the good fortune of winning 2 SNFC national races..... 1st Open SNFC Newbury 2002 and 1st Open SNFC Falaise 2004 , this is the ultimate dream come true and fills us all up with immense pride, it is our aim to make it three..... believe me Chris ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  24. Not a problem Rose , will keep you updated , if all goes to plan at present it could be near the end of May onwards Chris
  25. That is straight to the point with pigeon fanciers. We are all human beings, it is in our nature we have differing opinions but yet the pigeon man takes things to heart and that is the end of it.... fall outs big style... How many times do we fall out with the wife or husband..... we still end up speaking to one another sooner or later ;D ;D
