I will be using Chisholm Trail Health Products this year for the race birds, This will be the first year we used it and from what I'm hearing should keep the bird in good form all being from over 36 diffrant lofts. As far as your 1 eyed cold and sneezing and dirty wattkes, I would treat for Respotory using Tylan and if you happen to have some One eye Cold eye drops use it also.

TYLAN For hard to get respiratory problems, I.E. and Mycoplasmosis also helps in eliminating the mucus in the mouth. 1 Teaspoon/Gallon for 7-14 days. Works excellent in combination with Aureomycin ORDER# DESCRIPTION PRICE 1020-011 Tylan 100 Gr $ 45.00 http://www.globalpigeon.com/main.html

CHISOLM HEALTH PRODUCTS
Chatrace replied to jimmy white's topic in Help - What's wrong with my bird?
I will be using this product for the race team this year. I was sent enough to supply the whole race team for the season, We can watch and see how it works on the birds -
1 sq foot per bird is close, but with an aivairy that big you could hold more and just have them perched in the loft on the wall perches 7 x17 and 2 walls at 7x7 would allow for 217 birds I wouldn't put more than 200 in

Paddy was in New York and was patiently waiting, and watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing. The cop stopped the flow of traffic and shouted, "Okay pedestrians." Then he'd allow the traffic to pass. He'd done this several times, and Paddy still stood on the sidewalk. After the cop had shouted "Pedestrians" for the tenth time, Paddy went over to him and said, "Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?" Have a great St Paddy Day :-)

Upside down, depends on if you are right or left handed which leg, I used to do the right when we counter marked now I do the left so the E Chip can go on the right for basket night

If it is related to sickness ,it will have something to do with respatroy if anything, but would think it was from feeding more than not.

Speeking of Pubs and Animals here is one. A lion, a gorilla and a chicken are talking in a pub. As often happens in pubs, they began boasting. The lion said, "I'm the King of the Jungle because when I roar everyone runs out of the jungle". The gorilla said, "That's nothing. I'm the King of the Jungle because when I beat my chest everyone runs out of the jungle screaming". Both the lion and the gorilla turned to face the chicken who says, "Roaring, beating, pah! That's nothing. When I sneeze ten million people sh** themselves!"

they should hatch 18 days at most fron the laying of the 2nd egg. After that your wasting time on the next round. After 5 days you could candle them and see if they are developing and at that point you could make up if they are alive or clear and start over.

Train over the mountian ,but keep to the upper side of the normal path that the rest fly around, Make so yours break towards the mt before the main drag goes for the around way. Stay to the high side.
-
It shouldn't matter , there is what's called loft imuneities. All the birds in a loft have there own family imune system to speek.

can't see tyhe floor need to lighten the photo ,or is it that deep :-)
-
You should see the bird putting weight on it again, but would say 2 weeks should have it set and growing, just don't pull on it after you take the bandage off :-)
-
Now days most corn is dried before bagging so it wouldn't need to be done. If it was popcorn you could be in trouble :-)

5 Gallon Plastic buckets work great also and most Bake shops have them for about $2 here, get the lid that comes with them. You can lay then on there side and stack them as High as you can see into or build a slelf about 2 feet of the floor and start you pile there. Drill a couple holes in the bottoms ,which will be the back of the nesting bucket when it on it's side and cut the inside of the lid out leavining about 3 inches at the bottom so when put back on the bucket it will keep the nesting material from falling out and the babies . You can put some old outdoor carpet for the bottom so it isn't as slippery and the birds can walk around better while bringing in nesting material or even mating. When the season is over you can just take all the buckets out had hose them clean and stack till next season. Some here have made V perches and screwed them on the bottom of the bucket so when breeding is over and buckets are clean the open end can be placed towards the wall and stacked again leaving V perches for the off season.

Here where we have the loft SSE is the prefered. They winds don't come from that direstion much and helps keep the drafts from blowing in windows and doors, it aqlso lets the birds watch the sun and be out in it most of the year; Our weather is mostly from the NW. That would be how I picked the direction.

w/c is better.. darkness or lighting system
Chatrace replied to mobster's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
I used to do the light system when I raised my own Ybs and could have them all banded by Feb 1st, I had them on 18 hours of lights with them always seeing the natural sunrise and the lights came on about 20 min after sunrise and stayed on all day even if the sun was out bright . The light in the loft stayed on also. By the end of June there is enough natural light almost but I still let the lights on just to finish out the moult. Any birds born after mid feb almost have to have there 9th and 10th flights cut and pulled to have a full wing for Augest racing. Forn Jan birds if you keep the llights on as I did for 18 Hrs a day will have gone thru a full wing and body moult and not have to worry about flights for the long races, The following year they will have to use those flight again till the fall moult, but if one is dammaged or worn before the next season just cut it and let it grow in again. I now am on the Natural system with all the birds not coming till April and not enough time to run a system. Now after all That I have to call the craft off for refreshment but see they come on again in due time :-) -

You were in the darkness and then found the lightness was better so you are on it and doing more Traveling now. I found one of your avatars in my jewel box 8) -
