  1. Ok mate. Thanks for your help. For the sake of a few seconds might be safer to stick with the thimbles. Cheers
  2. Hi, I have a silver case mechanical STB and a red quarz STB. Am I right in thinking that both these clocks can now be used with out thimbles?
  3. Hi, None the fanciers you know will consider you a pest. They will be only to happy to give you all the help and advice you need. The number of fanciers in the sport is in decline so nearly all fanciers will do what they can to encourage and help newcomers to the sport. With out newcomers in a few years they will have no one to race against.
  4. My little girl will be pleased At least now when she gets her free rings we can use them as I point blankly refused to use the unaltered rings.
  5. I don't keep prisoner stock as a rule but now and then I see a must have. I get into the habit of catching them up before exercise, but one absent minded slip and the must have is gone :'(
  6. Definitely not been raced as the guy only did dove release. Gave my birds open loft since 7 this morning but no sign. Think I need a stock loft!
  7. Sent the guy an email earlier. said he's been looking but not seen him. But your right, he may just head back when he gets hungry.
  8. Thats a dead end. The guy only lives about 7.5 miles away but there is no loft there now.
  9. Hi all. Bought this bird last year and been extremely careful to catch him before opening up the loft. Yesterday let my guard down and forgot! Result one white cock on the landing board for a few seconds and then off. Last seen roof hopping a few streets away just as it got dark. Had my birds out all day hoping to pull it in but have not set eyes on it once. If any one manages to get him in give me a shout. Cheers guys.
  10. Thanks Gail. Your a star. And thanks to all you other guys input. Cheers.
  11. I've not actually seen the ring only in photo's but surely it cant be good to have a ring with what amounts to 2 hooks on. What were the rpra thinking?
  12. Hopefully the RPRA will have thousands left over so that realise members aint happy.
  13. I guess that might mean many RPRA members have sourced standard rings from other unions if they ran out so early.
  14. Really not fussed about the issuer as long as UK with out the slot. Not a member of any other union so not sure if any union will sell direct to an RPRA member
  15. Like many I am not keen on the new style 2010 rings issued by the RPRA. I would like to ring my birds with UK rings that do not have the ets slots. Does any have any for sale or know where I can purchase some from. Thanks.
  16. So do I have to fill out a membership application form for her as well?
  17. Thats it? As simple as that? Does she have to sign it as she's a child, or do I do that for her?
  18. Hi, I'm a member of the R.P.R.A. This year I would like to bring my 7 year old daughter on board and fly as father and daughter. I emailed the R.P.R.A asking them what I need to do, but they never bothered replying. Can any one flying with their children tell what I need to do. Thanks.
  19. Well I don't blame myself. When I send my birds to a race I entrust them to the care of the race controller and the convoyer and trust that they will make their decisions based totally on the birds welfare. Well it is obvious on this occassion that was not the case. Some say the decision to lib was based on lack of money to pay the convoyers to stay up there any longer.
  20. The birds should not have been libbed. Locals reported that the birds never even cleared the lib site on saturday due to misty conditions and spent the first night sat on local roofs. They should have been held or brought back.
  21. Any feds let loose yet? Waiting for essex central to lib from Ripon. Not overly confident we'll get a race today.
  22. Essex central fed at Wetherby. No news yet so looks like another holdover!
