  1. Does any one know the dosages for canker prevention for this product as the label on my bottle is unreadable.
  2. It is red and hot to touch. There are no breaks in the skin. What is the cure for bumblefoot?
  3. I have a harness to use for broken legs. I guess I could give it a try and see what happens.
  4. Hi, I have a young bird that has a swollen foot. I have examined the foot and leg but can not find anything obviously wrong with it. Its not the ring leg and though the bird can stand on it, it does not by any means put its full weight on it. Any one got any ideas?
  5. You have to have a signal for the birds to come in that they assocciate with food, be it rattling a tin, calling, whistling, whatever. Just choose a method and stick to it. Avoid overfeeding as they wont rush to come in on a sunny day if they arnt hungry. I let my birds out for an hour before training, then call them in and basket them. While in the basket i let them hear me putting food in the trough.I leave the trap open while I,m away. They are are always in the loft when I get home.
  6. Good loft hygene is the answer to keeping the cocci count down. Scrape the floor daily and avoid floor feeding and you should'nt have to many problems.
  7. Try this website. http://www.pzhgp.pl If you use a translation site such as http://www.translation-guide.com/free_online_translators.php? from=Polish&to=English Enter the top url and you should be able to find your way around the site. Hope this helps.
  8. Sam, The answers in the post if you read it propely.
  9. I take mine out at 23 days. If I leave them any longer they tend to come out of the box themselves. I provide food and water in the box so the youngsters learn to eat and drink well before they come away.
  10. I,m going to breed him some and he wont have to pay any carriage. He could do with some rings though if any one has any spare as I only have a couple left that I need.
  11. Billybob I live in Rochford. If you want to send over some rings I dont mind breeding you some latebreds for free. Only just started myself and been well chuffed with the help and advice I,ve had from fellow fanciers, so only too willing to put something back in.
  12. Bird turned out to be local. Has now been repatriated.

Give it some water and some food. If you do not have any proper pigeon food wild bird food or mixed corn available cheaply in small quantities will do. Many come down thirsty and starving and will clear after a few days once theyve built their strength back up. If it hasnt cleared after about a week try to lure it into a shed or out building by placing the food inside with just a very light trail outside. Eventually the bird will cautiously enter the building enabling you to catch it. Once caught post the ring number on here and some one will be able to help you report it to the ring issuer.
  15. I think this is going to run and run. I personally will continue to provide my birds with grit and pickstones. I certainly do not feel conned. It costs a pittance, my birds use and love it, so where is the con?
  16. All birds need grit to help grind up their food. If you do not supply it your birds will find a substitute their selves often from the local fields. I don,t know about you, but I,d rather my birds were not picking up god knows what from farmers fields and being sitting targets for the farmers 12 bore or some trigger happy kid with his first air gun. I supply my birds with pick stones and kilpatricks health grit which costs less than a packet of fags. Surely your birds are worth that much!
  17. Have you got any back yet?
  18. sorry to hear that mate. Felt sure you'd have some back by now.
  19. Doubt you would lose that many from a hawk attack. More likely to have got carried off with a flock flying over on a training toss or an early open race. If you,ve had them in all winter they would have got carried away with the excitement and could easily join a flock flying over. By the time they realise whats going on they are totally lost. Those with any sense will start drifting back in the morning. Those that don't have saved you wasting marking fees on.
  20. Blimey! 19 birds is a lot to lose in one go. I hope you get some of them back.
  21. Same here, brown also.
  22. I was 10. My brother brought home 4 ferals he had caught and gave them to me as pets. That was in 1973. The bug bit and I soon started thinking about racing pigeons, so the following year my dad built me a loft and took me to a few sales and we started to build a team to fly as father and son the following year. Circumstances meant the birds had to go in 1979. As we all know the bug never really goes so last year decided to start putting a team together to start racing in April.
  23. I won't be able to donate as I won't have any birds old enough to pen. But I'll go along and give my support and see if I can spot any old faces from the club I used to race with in the 70's. If prices arnt too steep I might buy myself a bird or two. Cheers guys.
