If you are referring to me moaning then I am sorry but I just say it as I see it. Unless you are planning to go national then you will not fill the void left in the wake of Amtrak, you will fill small bits but the plain and simple truth is it needs a national courier or a franchise network to fill it totally MOANING; it wouldn't matter if you were doing it for free you will still get moaned at and no matter what you charge over that there are some that will gladly pay for a service well done but that's the public for you :-/

I would think that both yourselves and Amtrak are a courier service that transport anything you can handle any place that is viable and not just pigeons. I have looked at it and there is no way one company can survive just transporting pigeons but they could be the icing on the cake or a pain in the butt for a national distributer To bring a pigeon from Eastbourne to Aberdeen 600+ miles for £30 is in no way viable unless it is networked along with other items, pie in the sky if you think you could do this with only transporting pigeons. Two weeks into transporting pigeons you questioning the viability, any company will have glitches no matter how good they are, the difference good companies will deal with them better than the bad ones AM I wish you all the best in your venture but believe me, as someone that has run very successful businesses for well over 20 years, set your sights on longer than weeks there is a huge potential business out there :-/ Roland you are right, if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, all you can hope for is you get the clever ones ;D ;D ;D

Phil, I just don't think there is am easy answer to it all, no matter who does the job we will incur similar problems, drivers, networking etc. Even AM Deliveries said in a previous post his computer had a virus, won't be long till we are moaning at them :-/

As long as there is a back up plan, the ill wind might blow away a lot more than the rubbish ;)

We pre order boxes so we have a stock of them, our local driver started out with ten boxes one day and by the time he got to us he had none left, any time I am in the depot area I drop in and get a load of them. I think you can and if not you should be able to order them from the main depot :-/ I am not supporting Amtrak as I have had some real cock-ups by them but there is a way we can make life easier for ourselves and the drivers surely it helps :-/

Pick a job, a pub, a club, a pigeon site or any gathering and you will get an Amtrak driver, a newbe, a know it all, a bullshitter, a shyster, ah don't give a damn, I'll do anything for you, an honest one, a liar, a wise *expletive removed*, a dim wit, one thing for certain I have been them all in someone's eyes :)

Touch wood I have had a great service from Amtrak lately, partly down to the driver we have, also Chickadee phones both our local depot at Broxburn and also contacts the local depot where the birds are getting sent from or picked up from and she prints out address labels complete with phone numbers and tapes them to the boxes She also pre-orders boxes so they are ready to go when the driver arrives :-/

Roland, I had a very heated bebate with you some time ago regarding your support of Amtrak, do you remember this bird, it spent three days in a box due to an Amtrak cockup, since then I have come to realise it is down to isolated problems, networking, individual drivers attitude, computer glitches and of coarse some bullshit the same as what will happen with any company that exists.

Not everyone wants show stock and show fanciers rarely give away their best stock but the ones they do not keep are not far off the mark sometimes and may throw good ones in turn and may just get newbes interested. :-/
