It will go back to the 98% rule and the pigeon that Jim timed was bred in our Lofts and was 1st West Section 2nd Open Chenoise flying 582miles and i think 2nd to J.Farn mer of Lochgelly in Fife and its breeding was a cock i purchased at Blackpool from Louella x with Jims own tried and tested family.For the records the cock only bred one pigeon to win and also went in the bin.

Just look at this weeks B.H.W. and check for yourselve what is Allfair .For what ever reason the pigeons this week look the part and not what has been advertised in the last few weeks.If you have money ,(and if you are daft enough to part with)look at the price they are demanding for Top-Class Stock Birds and remember they are Aged Stock Birds at that 02/03 and never (Bred a Curdy) in Scotland .We would class them as Sh-te and its Best Offer over £2000.00.Rememeber the 98% rule these pigeons are not worth the asking price and in our Loft they would be in the Bin.Forget how they are bred as most are 5-6 years of age.Try the National Lottery you have a better chance of winning.Ask your selve one question why are they off loading and they keep on mentioning One Loft Races. It is a sad day when the total birdage for our Main races (3571) Alencon/Tours and Falaise is some 260 birds less than the Inland National and with the economy on its knees it can only be worse in 2009. Time will tell.

And lets not forget the loss of £2019 for the Dinner and Presentation.

Dellboy On reviewing the Secretarys Salary would you have any idea as to the hours required to fullfill and carry out these duties.I belive the salary should be based per entry which i would pitch at 1p and the final salary for 2008 would have been £13519 Gross and no expenses.Take away the Inland Races (Fed) and you would have a final salary of £5843 which is not bad for five races. and remember the role is after all only part time.

Lets change the topic slightly and which might help to stop the rot is the crazy resolution put up by the management committee race programme for 2009.How many pigeons do you think you are going to need to compete and the costs associated with training /feeding/sending and pooling.Its geared up for ceratin sections/prevailing west winds and we should seriously think about reducing the number of races and consider Wanstead Flats/Falaise/Rennes and Nantes (or Tours.)With dwindling membership ,not enough pigeons going around and the escalating costs we are heading for Distress and Destruction. :(

With regards to the attached J.McGhie & Son & G/son Won Nantes in 1998 with their Good Dark Chq Cock which they named Firpark. What do you belive have been the most fashionable and successfull families in 2008 and what do you forsee for 2009 and split them into two categories.Sprint 60-350 miles and over 500miles.

We have spend silly money in the past when certain families were the fashion but believe me the pigeons that you appreciate are the ones you get in exchanging or buying at sales for worthy causes.Lets all take a Stance and when the bidding goes over say £200 we bale out.Keep clear of fancy advertising because in the end that is what we are paying for and try and ensure that we are buying prepotancy which it is some thirty years since i saw such a pair and even at that they were around 10 years old and the fancier who purchased them got nothing in return for parting with his hard earned cash. :X :X :X Just look at some of Web Sites and you will see the strains that are out off or going out of fashion:-Rolland Janseen( Grizzels) and Stall Van Reets :(

Whats your biggest delight in the racing and breeding of pigeons.Ours is getting up every morning doing the daily chores and making sure they are healthy and also being fortunate to being with them daily is a delight. All the Best in 2009 and remember it all starts now. Budgie :)

Well not long now before pairing up.How many have treated for Paratypoid and are the Lofts cleaned and disinfected prior to the New Year.As always,good ongoing care will mean that most pigeons are able to resist most diseases and maintenance of a clean dry loft will minimise exposure. Need we say more ;)

Buy them for human consumption and put them in a food processor along with Red Band and Hormaform it makes a first class job of the youngsters and the pigeons love them.

With January fast approaching and for those who have paired up i hope you have had the droppings checked for Worms,Coccidiosis and more importantly the dreaded Paratypoid.E-coli and Paratyphoid should treated for 8 consective days prior to pairing and you will be amazed at how the overall health of your pigeons and the quality of the youngsters will be.We use Parastop and it is absolutely safe.Natural Immunity is one thing but with the pigeons that we either bring in or race against there is a massive problem with Paratypoid.And lets not forget the 98% Shi-t- rule and give the money to the wife or weans for Christmas rather than buy aged stock birds which after all are nae good tae the wans that are offloading them. ;) Seasons Greetings And All The Best 2009 Budgie

Just think of the decent honest fanciers who were sitting 2nd Open or missing out on the all major trophies over the last 5 years.Some have sadly passed away knowing that their chance of a lifetime has been taken away and they never received the accolades which should have been bestowed upon them. :( In the end it will all come oot in the washin but sadly to late. :(
