    Open loft

hi sue, personally if i was doing this method, my young cocks would be let out with my old cocks once the young birds have started to range well, and vise versa with the hens, id never let the two sexs mix untill race time!

    Yearlings

i have to say i agree with some parts of rolands earlier comments, but those concerned with sprint and middle distance i feel it cancels the theory out, Im more sprint and middle minded and i have a rule no bird that scores after 2 yrs has to leave my lofts, and this couldnt be tested if the yearlings wasnt raced, my yearlings however will only go over 300 miles this year and no further,

  14. my advice is go too the two best lofts in your area, and ask to purchase 6 ybs each from there lofts, leaving you with 12 ybs so to say and would also help build a family,

    help

what do you call brillant flying? not in sight when letting them out for an hour or so? young birds need to be flying really well and strong before training them mate. For me also way to early to be training ybs, my ybs bred in feb are only flying for 15-20 mins, wouldnt dream training them untill closer near yb season. I often take my lazy birds on short tosses like sillyness at the bottom of the street, trust me ive lost some from this distance, and you'll never see them again, you may get them back, but really need to know how was they flying before hand, i hope you get them back mate

How do you try to motivate your widowhood cocks the nite of basketting?
  20. were are you from mate?
  21. hi mate noticed you ordered your loft from canning town, my stomping grounds, put it this way if you live in this area you wont get no pigeon food round here you have to travel at least 30-40 mins at a time to places such as the kennels and the farm, or do what i do get my food delivered
  22. i couldnt be to sure but i feel the young birds could be too dependent on the cocks feeding them for long while, and also the cocks without these young may be come spitful towards them, im just having a shot at the dark though dnt be put off it may work, as if possible id like pigeons to be born and raised and raced in the loft i like the idea but just dnt like the idea of the old cocks being there just my opinion
  23. great pics, im going to wanstead flats this weekend to see a few up there its only 5 mins away from me so gunna be up pretty early
  24. pigeons do have a natural bond to the shed they are bred in and reared in, however think may affect your widowers
  25. consider yourself lucky had a simiular incident but with a vet bill alongside it, said they had to charge for holding of the bird, although the bird was in full speck of health,
