  1. Birdlime was the glue Roland, made up with Holly Mistletoe and various other plants, so I'm told
  2. Good thought provoking thread this one, I'm sure when we have these discussions about rules they must be badly written or they wouldn't be open to interpretation, I agree with Big Davie that Rule 9, recorded after pigeon has entered loft was meant to mean after the bird was trapped or contained, no mention of shape or form of The Loft you'll notice but I guess will come up every year until the wording is corrected
  3. Roland,The Bullfich has been bred in captivity for many years, It could be you are thinking the cock will not hybridise with other species including canary hens unlike most other finch cocks, the hen has been crossed with Goldfinch and Greenfinch though.
  4. Yes mate, It's a shame they can't get their wording right on these rules, I'm sure "Inside the loft" was aimed at people with pads under the landing board but as we say, they have to be home whatever
  5. From what I've seen of the Scottish rules that looks OK George, It wouldn't be OK here in Wales as the bobs would need to be before the timing took place
  6. Well done Scott, No one could fault that setup
  7. My reply to that John would be that the sputnik trap is part of the loft.
  8. You're right there Del, I don't think we need lose any sleep over this one
  9. John I am still wondering if your post is a wind up, if not it is a complete nonsense to say a trap outside of the front face of a loft is not part of the loft, what legislation are you taking that from? As I said previously, I have never seen rules regarding the shape of a loft, anything I or anyone else attaches to their loft in whatever shape or form will be "The Loft", It is entirely up to the individual fancier what dimension or shape his fitments are. Not living in Scotland I don't have an axe to grind but I would be concerned allowing ETS rings to register without the pigeon being trapped.
  10. Scott, I think when the RPRA say a closed loft they are referring to anything outside of bob wires, your traps are an entrance to a trap and if you time before bobs they are not trapped, I think the Welsh wording on this is much the better regarding fairness to those on clocks
  11. 100% correct, The term the loft would always include the trapping system whatever shape or form people wish to use, in theory a loft could be 6ft. square and the trap 20ft. square, there has never been stipulation on sizes or shapes of lofts they certainly don't have to be square or rectangular and everything fitted inside these areas.
  12. Not allowed under Welsh H.U. John, birds have to be unable to leave after timing, trapped before timing
  13. The Kinks
  14. Brian Ferry, always liked him Cathryn hates him
  15. Evening Andy, that lass was a big loss
  16. Could this be Amy

At that age it should be possible to correct the leg, as Andy says something to hold the legs closer together, I would thread string through the ring and a loop on the other, not too close together as the chick needs to balance, needs a filling in the nest for support to lean on, a hens egg should be OK, straw is not the best for a single, pigeons will always choose twiggy material, much more grip.
