  1. Who knows then. Dipped doos are not crossed and racers canny compete so long reign the likeliest class for wot ever its worth. Lets make it a most likeliest to be a good show bird and another class for makin a good racer to 500 miles then?
  2. John Hodgson???

    More Loft Pictures

Makes me cringe when I see newcomers comin on here wae yer new lofts and then I think of my bitsa o this and bitsa that loft. Thats absolutely fantastic am as jealous as f
  7. Its not aboot who supports what its aboot whether a dipped doo can be classed as a likliest to win or fly or should it have a class of its own or indeed no class at all as its a HYDRID if you like. I love a good show and was quite good at it when a was a boy. These arguements were around then and I can only see the raceing fanciers point of view as you are either a showman who shows show pigeons or your a racer who shows his racers. Why the need to be both wae doos that blur the boundaries is beyond me. The congratulations on winning a likeliest class wae a doo that needs a calender rather than a clock must be a bit hollow. JMO
  8. Maybe the racin boys are gettin in the way of the showers!! If the dipped birds dinny win any cards how the chuff can they be the likeliest to win? or Race?. Has anybody had a decent result wae a cross breed?. Perhaps its correct tae have a show that racers dinny enter but please dont call it likeliest to win or fly.
  9. Thru the water?
  10. Wants tae hand ower tae Neil Lennon then Sammy!!!
  11. Surely likliest to race means just that and any fancier entering a 'dipped' pigeon whose racing genes must be well diluted should perhaps look their motives first as I am sure there are plenty of race/show classes that they could have entered with their 'pure' birds. JMO

  13. Been practicn up un doon the livin room floor. Wifes gan mental aboot the skirtin boards
  14. Never judged a show class.Could be my eyesight problem or most likely ad make a balls of it. Was at peterlee one year and had three on the specials table for judgin and the man put the winner of the SALE class up as BIS. Judges eh!!
  15. Is the old loft still there?
  16. If you want to learn then natural will tell you a lot about the pigeons behaviour during racing and breeding. I would think that 99% of the fanciers on here would have started wae some kind of natural system. If you want to compete from sprint/middle races then widowhood(IMO) is the way to go bad as yer only startin then will you be expectin tae be at the front straight off? On the other hand, if yer like me , the competitive urge will mean you will be tryin!! The widow system must be followed religiously ie. Routine of exercise, feeding correct, hens kept content without laying or pairing and condition time watched closely.
  17. Hens laying is probs the biggest reason I gan for the widowhood. The motivation of the correct nest is clealy a very potent weapon but the ease of widowhood(homemade) is a big draw for the working fancier as regards road work and conditioning.
  18. Health,Fitness,Road work, Nest condition for motivation(along with others). Much the same as out else but the fitness and condition may be harder to obtain and to interperate.
  19. Sad news Mick mate
  20. Think alot depends on yer loft location as well? Race points can quickly pass by week by week up here in april and before you know it yer out tae 150miles and yer yearlings have a jump and may still get a nor easter for their first yin so rock and a hard place with nae comeback weeks to blood them in!
  21. Patience mate that wots required but wot us fanciers lack most
  22. It also depends on how many the family you bring in. But its a real hard struggle to put a distance team together in a small team especially up here when youve got so many treacherous races before the doos even get to the races that they are bred for!!!
  23. Only if you think yer yearling hens might be slow to lay? Maybe give them an extra week but you should still have plenty time between the herry and yer first race?
  24. Depends on distance or sprint? Youll never know aboot a distance team in two years!
  25. Thats unquetionable mate. Wish we could get back there or somewhere close?
