I have loads, and have tried loads, of reds and mealies from the water. I can say without fear of contradiction that even from a family with at least 60% red or mealy the most successful colour is...........................BLUE????
I have had around 75% which is nae great. I have a two yr old hen that I bought in the winter refuses to lay, a proven stock hen that has started laying one at a time and another pair of 5yr old that have been together all the time breeding winners two blank rounds this year. I wuldna stress
Yip. Rice,hemp and linseed mix is my trapping mix. An old fancier once told me that it aids with recovery after race as the reaction between water and rice in the crop stops the bird gorging and the water held in the rice aids rehydration. Have done this for years
