  1. Well done not only to Bill but to all those that entered 'THE BILLS ALL COLOR 1 LOFT RACE'. in the knowledge that win lose or draw their youngbirds would be going to help a new starter into this wonderful sport of ours. Well done all.
  2. Looks like the bottom two have been Tango'd ;D
  3. Photo of my pet Crow 'Squirt'. He's gone now but before he left he see of a family of magpie's that had given my pigeons grief for years.

    Garlic

I'll not refute the good garlic can do our pigeons but its a fact they don't like it. For a pigeon to achieve top form its head has to be right as well as its body, does it bother them having to drink something they don't like? could it be the more times a week you give it to them the more your stifling their form. Just an alterative slant on the subject.
  5. Should members of the RPRA accept the fact that ETS will be with us in the near future. If the rules allowed could they give us say 2 years grace of its implementation, this would give clubs time to apply for lottery grants, hold sales and the like. Me, I see it coming in, think it more of the case of when not if.

  12. Newcastle Disease 12/10/2006 The State Veterinary Service is investigating a suspect case of Newcastle Disease in East Lothian. There is no suspicion of avian influenza, also known as bird flu. Newcastle Disease is a disease of poultry and does not have any significant public health implications. The premises concerned have been placed under restrictions whilst veterinary inquiries are undertaken. Samples have been sent for analysis to the EU reference laboratory at VLA Weybridge. Results are expected at the weekend. Wonder how many cases were investigated last year whilst we had our eyes fixed on bird flu.
  13. Roland, Agree with most of what you say. If my pigeons are not right I could more than likely tell you 9 times out of 10 what the problem is but 9 times out of 10 isn't a 100% strike rate. By using a vet to nip any potential problem in the bud cant be a bad thing can it? Waste of money? we all value things different.
  14. I think having droppings tested is a must, could be the make or break of your season. you can go down the treating blind road at the beginning part of the year for canker-cocci-worms but why do that if they don't need it? waste of time waste of money and could knock off what form your pigeons are holding. Saying that there are some vets out there that I would put in the quack category, use one that has been recommended to you. Jimmy W has kindly informed me of such a practise in Aberdeen, worth their weight in gold.
  15. Better late than never a pic of the the pigeon won in the 'Young Bird Raffle' (lost its nestmate of the loft) :'(
