Hi Spin after other races and channel races (yb) i lost more and i lost a few of my yearlings in 2008 (mainly the gaby lines), at present from the 100 ybs that have survived from 2008 and 2007 i have 32 S/M (including widowhood hens) and 24 distance birds so that make so that makes 56, hope that makes sense.

Yes eric he is a nice man in fact one of the most honest and informative i have met, hopefully we will be doing a small auction for frans in the autumn at one of the shows. Stuart

Because they go to National and Classic races and i find that its too much to send to everything.

Since 2007 i have bred a big team, probaly just shy of a 100 ybs a year. As i had new pigeons i thought that i would probaly have a high number of duffers, so by breeding a few extra hopefully i would find a few more. To add i want to compete from Lessay 160 miles to Tarbes 600 miles so i need two types of pigeons and that had to be factored into the breeding. Now that i have more reliable pigeons and ive learnt what are the most realiable lines then hopefully in the futrue i can breed less but increase the quality. Its now race 5 and in 2007 i had 55 left at this stage, last year it was 60 and this year i have 81 from the 100 so hopefully im moving in the right direction. Hopefully next year i will have the confidence to limit my breeding to 70ybs. I personally believe thats its healthy to breed a few extra ybs but keep no extra old ones just make the selection criteria a little harder, too many people stop ybs after 2/3 races just to fill nestboxes. I will also add that i dont support old bird racing in my club but i always send my team of ybs so at the end of it all i have contrubuted as much as anyone else. Stuart

A young bird for Wheatley and Armstrong won 1st Fed and another was 5th from Direct Aad Van Berkel pigeons purchased at Telford 2008 :)

from the first race to 300 miles at the moment but they not big so i cant see why they will not do 400 miles as they love head winds. Stuart
-
75 from 78, lots of people had birds missing so im counting my blessings

My mix costs me around £7 a bag and i would take anyone using it, slight adjustment for Racing/Breeding/Moulting etc but nearly the same cost and very good results.

WOESRC still going for a Sat am lib, it does seem a little better down south. Stuart

P.S. if the birds are blinking really badly and crocking then its the virus, remove each bird as it shows the signs and it should calm down in 3 or 3 days. Im afraid there isnt much cure for Viruses but i would give them sedichol on the food to help the internal organs.
-
As said its either canker or severe upper respatory infection which has inflamed the ducks around the nose and eyes to to the point they bleed, i would treat with tylan or Doxycycline for 6 days and day 1 give a 1/4 metronizadale tablet and day 3 and day 5. Be sure to put the doxycycline in bottled water not tap water and remove the grit. However Circo Virus can also show the same symtoms, have any died??? Sometimes with Circo the breathing is badly affected and the heads shake, normal affected birds die within 48 hours, it will normally affect 10-15% and once birds show the signs its best to remove tham. Hope this helps. Stuart

I was gifted a pair by Aad Van Berkel, they are 2009 ybs and to be honest there are real solid, 4 races and 4 times both have dropped in the first batch, the cock has a 17th from 4850birds already. :) Stuart Wilcox

In 2007 we first introduced 3 pairs from Frans Zwols from and they won from the very first race, myself and Raymond Moleveld have built a super strong team over the last 3 seasons and i think you will agree there results are impressive, especially when you see such results on every line of the pedigree. Ive always belived that as the moult increses most ybs slow up which means they keep a better line, i noticed yesterday that my 30 darkness ybs home long before the naturals but off line then 20 minutes later the crazy gang turned up but bang on line!!!! Over the next week or 2 the Darkness ybs will pull clear as a bunch every saturday and leave moulting young birds behind. Stuart

I know how you feel i have lost 17 birds this just around the loft. Good luck Stuart
-
dont feed them for 48 hours and they will break into a moult, however i think you should continue there education even if its only in the training basket.

If Tillo is happy with that i am too!!! Tillo you better decide who has the cock/hen and we can call it £75 each. Congrats to you both. Stuart

geting them back into the loft

1 oz a day and lite mix at the start of the week, it will help avoid ybs as well. -
Cowboy i seen them go over my head about 11.30 or just before going like the clappers, fair play to Phil Fishlock he rang alot of people to be sure he gave them a clear route.
