    THE END OF

Well I'm not racist in anyway, live and let live i say! I have many scottish friends and one of which has the nick name of jock and he doesnt mind one little bit, he is a great lad and we enjoy a great deal of banter. I think you will find the people i called names were the ones who, to coin a phrase "started throwing the stones". What amuses me is the fact that these people have to put the boot in where really its not needed, if Scotland were at the world cup i would be cheering just as loudly for them as England unless of course they played eachother then it would be different. So keep your comments and accusations of racism from me to yourself, as i dont take too kindly to that Auldsang! If you wish to leave here thats your choice but dont do it because of me and a little retaliation theres a good chap. As for your problems with Scottish pigeon politics im sure as Bart says, when new blood comes along, and it will, new ideas will prevail as is always the case and things will progress. If the general oppinion is that my comments are not wanted here on this forum then that will be fine by me, if i get the word to "go away" from people whos opinions Do matter, then that is what i will be doing, but not until! As i enjoy reading what people post and sometimes feel i need to make a reply wether you like it or not. If there is anyone else out there that i have offended then i do apologise but i do not regret saying the things i did as it was in reply, pure and simple! Now thats the last i will be writing on the subject, i, as im sure you do also, have much better things to be doing.
  3. Should be fife-queen i bet you wear a skirt. A nation of frustrated cross-dressers i'd say.
  4. I hope you get the rest back too, mind on a plus note i've found that when you do things like that, what you are left with will take some losing in future and will hold their own racing. Fingers crossed for you cause it can be a tough old game this!
  5. Try screwing some CD's on and around your loft, Not tightly down let them move a little in the wind, I know several people that suffered badly with sparrow hawk attacks, now they have no trouble at all. Seems the hawks cant stand the reflected light.
  6. FIFA Rankings as of April 06 ENGLAND 10th, scotland 59th, sandwiched between the two great footballing nations of Zambia and Uzbekistan hahaha. No room to knock really have you, just except it and hang your heads in shame all you knockers. WE are in the last 8 and thats good enough to keep us all cheering and enjoying it and if you dont want to join in thats your bad luck but were willing to share, We aint TIGHT!!
  7. seems you tossed these on a saturday and that to me isnt very wise for a first toss, too many racers in the sky's. I hope you get them back and do your best to avoid race days with inexperienced babies they can get dragged all over the place!
  8. Scots would never get into trouble would they! They are always so well behaved! Short skirts and shorter memories you Jocks hahaha Laughable really. I'd also like to know how come so many of you want, and indeed do live in ENGLAND if its so bad? Just sit back and enjoy the football i say, if you dont like ENGLAND please yourself, but i for one would still be supporting scotland and indeed any other home nation should they manage to qualify for a major tournament. Think its all sour grapes to be honest.
  9. Its a dogs life aint it with no team to support! Still on the plus side, Life's a *expletive removed*! hahaha
  10. yes hostilities have started! 4 tosses from 1 1/2 miles all in less than 2 mins each and 1 from 3 miles in slightly over 3 mins so not a bad start but theres plenty of time for that to change lol. I also think your right about keeping them going and never bringing them back to short tosses, i have never done that myself but have heard of people doing it and having complete disasters losing entire teams of youngsters, each to their own though i say! Good luck to you all with your YB's however you go about training them and my fingers are crossed its a good year for everyone, especially my 15yr old son John whos taken up racing from me. Good luck kidder! Give 'um hell not lol ;D

  13. well good luck to you matey, this really is a roler coaster ride of a sport with many ups, downs, twists and turns, every day is different and never boring. Dont worry about the wife, be like me! Mine hates pigeons and me but at least with a loft at the bottom of the garden theres always somewhere to go free from nagging and is dry on the locked out nights lol
  14. splendid looking birds and what a great gesture 10/10
  15. Happy Birthday Bruno! Dont forget to take care crossing the road, especially if you've had a shandy or two lol
  16. Bruno answer just 1 simple question, CAN it be posible for a stray pigeon to bring H5N1 to this country?

    Boro

0 - 0 followed by a home win. Go for it Boro you've been a pleasure to watch in Europe and thats from a 100% Liverpool fan. They can be a very physical side but you boys can handle it, fly the flag with pride!
  18. Bruno you say this cant jump from bird to bird except poultry so can you with your wealth of wisdom tell me how at least 1 parrot and approximatly 50 assorted finches died of this in a heathrow quarentine station? Im sure you will have an answer to suit your own ends but you dont fool me all the evidence you put forward is for your own ends isnt it. its just that you cant or wont except the posibility of the real facts. If pigeons are even a slight risk then thats a risk that must be acted upon. If you have good biosecurity as i myself do, then that is fine but its not the pigeons that on liberation, home well that would be the problem, the problem would come from the hundreds, and sometimes thousands that dont make it accross the channel only to spend time as strays in france then to come toddling back days weeks and sometimes months later and not make it to their own loft such as yours with good biosecurity but to be picked up tired and exhausted by a non fancier, usually in my experience a child, in a street. why dont you just except there is a threat of this and make do with what you have, as im sure you must be very greatfull to Mr Bryant for getting you racing within our own shores as it is. What possible harm would it do for you to miss out on a handfull of races this season as im sure by next year this will all be a thing of the past? Personally i cant see this ban being lifted, but if it is and problems do occur them you can all be very proud of yourselves and stand out as a shinning example of unselfish pigeon fanciers. Oh and on another note if H5N1 does come over here there will be no more racing inland either, so i say dont push your luck!
  19. Potential is the word your over looking and it has actually killed 108 out of slightly over 200 that have become infected with it. On a lighter note you say they caught it from sleeping with livestock, hell you should meet my Mrs hahahaha
  20. Bruno, you say I'm so ill informed on this subject that I shouldnt debate it. No1 if I knew nothing I wouldnt open my mouth. US scientists have found the 1918 virus shares genetic mutations with the bird flu virus now circulating in Asia, Many experts believe it is only a matter of time before H5N1, or a similar strain, causes many deaths in humans - possibly after combining with a human flu strain. Crucially, the mutations identified by the US researchers were found in genes which control the virus' ability to replicate in host cells. The researchers say these mutations may have helped the 1918 virus replicate more efficiently. At this stage, they say the H5N1 strain shares only some, and not all, of these mutations. Increased virulence But these mutations may be enough to increase the virus' virulence - and give it the potential to cause serious human infection without first combining with a known human flu strain. Professor John Oxford, an expert in virology at Queen Mary College, London, said the suggestion that the virus had the potential to jump between humans without first combining with a human virus made it even more of a threat. "This study gives us an extra warning that H5N1 needs to be taken even more seriously than it has been up to now" There is the link between bird flu and human flu you wanted and god forbid you would be the first one to become infected! No2 If there is NO threat as you, (A NON SCIENTIST) suggests from this why are governments even considering the problem of pigeons in the first place? Im sure with such a potential for mass death they would have better things to do than spoil what is afterall just a minority sport. Granted its a sport both you and I must love or neither of us would be here discussing any of this, but at the end of the day thats all it is sport, (well actually its classed as a hobby) so if you cant except rules and regulations that are laid down for the good of the nation, which probably wont last too long anyway! Then you will be in for a very stressful life. My original post was referring to the image of pigeon racing being effected, if such an outbreak did occur and the general public were to know of the fact that pigeon racing had been taking place from countries infected with H5N1, no matter how small the likelihood was that they could or did bring the disease back to our shores, now that would damage the reputation of this sport for a very, very long time. Think about that for a moment and stop moaning that you cant get your own way on this. Untill the threat has gone or proved 100% then Im sure you and many others wont be racing over seas Im very sorry to say. Have a good day and enjoy your birds cause thats what its all about!
  21. Good luck with your campaign, I will keep my fingers crossed it never comes here and never mutates with human flu. It is real and im sure it will pass but wether it gets worse before it gets better depends on the likes of you and me, and how we address the problem. No matter what enjoy your birds the same as i do
  22. Welldone to you youngman, Keep up the good work!
  23. I fully agree with you Pompey Mick about both man being a problem spreading it and being an animal (well I am just ask my neighbours lol) and Pigeon fanciers being a soft target, which was my point in the first place we would be hung drawn and quatered and pigeon fancying of any sort would be frowned upon for ever and a day. Enjoy what you have thats what i think
