  1. heres a link for you to go read and refresh yourselves to the facts http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3455873.stm . Now a proven fact is that pigeons can NOT be infected themselves with H5N1 or any other strain as far as i know, but they CAN carry it and that is the grey area. Now im not one to knock anyones bit of sport pleasure or whatever, but this is a real threat to you, me, your children, my children and the whole population, so what is the harm of missing out on a few races just to be on the safe side? Spanish flu (a close relitive so to speak of H5N1) killed 50 million worldwide in 1918 and that came from birds so if you cant see any further than the end of your nose thats not my problem but do your homework and use your head at the same time. All im saying is if that was the case that pigeons brought it here pigeon fanciers would be seen in a very dim light indeed. Oh and NO i do not work for a newspaper and i have my own views, i dont need to pick up on others especially that of the press.
  2. Have any of you considered the impact on the future of pigeon racing if it was proved to be brought to this country by racing pigeons? Especially if it mutated and caused mass deaths. My veiw on it is if a season is lost over seas then so beit, its a small price to pay for the posible health of a nation and the future of this great sport of ours. A saying that seems to fit this situation is 'If you dont want to get stung DONT poke a hornets nest'. Bird flu is out there on the continent so lets leave it there!
  3. Heres a few pic's of the birds, as Ive had a few requests to see what they are like.
  4. I have forsale 8, 3rd round youngsters off my top lines of Van Reets, 6 of these are brothers/sisters to Fed winners the other 2 are from pencil blue cock who was a winner in Club and Fed and is sire of numerous winners X Pencil Blue Pied hen "Toeys Lass" which was recently purchased by me for several hundred pounds. All birds will come with full pedigree's and interested parties feel free to contact me if you wish to know more. To give you some idea of what these birds are capable of, I was the higest prize winner in 2 of my local clubs (15+ sending members) taking an average of 3 of the first 4 positions each week, 3 years in a row, although I havnt been racing myself for a few years, have bred lots of winners in club and fed for others that have kept intouch and been kind enough to let me know how they are doing with my birds. The birds available will be ready to be sent out around 23th of April and are as follows: Nest pair Lt Cheq pied GB06/495, Blue pied GB06/496. Nest pair Blue, GB06/497. Lt Cheq, GB06/498. Nest pair Pencil Blue GB06/499, Pencil Blue Pied GB06/500. Nest pair Dk Cheq Slightly Pied GB06/507, Dk Cheq Pied GB06/508. Start price has to be £100 and I will leave it open from now untill 10pm on the 19th of April and the higest bidder gets the goods. Final cost will be plus carrage or collection by arrangement and will need to be completed as soon as this ends as the birds will be nearly ready to be sent out. All the best to all of you that look!
