once you start training ybs you must keep em going & they get better at it mine go training at least 3times per week & fly over an hour every morning & time permiting at least half hour at night
got my 1st red card this week racing on my own finishing in 1st 5th & 6th well chuffed few the ons that got 5th n 6th should of scored higher they were like drowned rats it was p***ing it down for a full hour that birds were liberated after being held over. last week couldnt get em in off house which lost me 1st 3rd 4th n 5th
1st yb race for me flying on my own should of been 1st,3rd,4th,5th could not get thee little buggers off the house took 7mins!! had 20home in 15mins had 2missing since 2pm
i think leeds went up with barnley & normanton fed at 8.50 dont know why they waited so long poor sods had over 500miles to do & what a dreadfull race!!! thinks theres only 8 home in fed!! winner taking over 11hours
barnsley & normanton fed also held over from there west coast fed let go from lessay 418 miles they did over 60mph!! dont know whty they held as they had a cracking race
dont quote me on this but think they have to be around 16ft from any other buildings ie houses ect i contacted the council & they sent me deteails about thissort of problems also try to find out who complained & go and speak to them and try to educate them ie with a leaflet telling them all about pigeon racing think what may concern the person that complained is having seeing what a mess wild/street pigeons do it worked for me when i set up in the back garden now the neigbours are fine with no problems hope this helps
thats right fifer if you have 20birds & 20 perches that is not enough they shouldnt have to fight for a perch if they are happy at home you can help avoid flyaways dad for nearly 30years always keeps around the same number of ybs even though theres plenty of perches but you do need floor space & good ventalation these factors add up it not just one thing
mine at 25miles they have had around 30tosses starting from 5miles then 10 then 15 let go in small amounts when someone there to get em in if not all let go together 1st race 14th july
weather looks dodgy 2m for most of the uk rain clearing later though but good in france & sunday in france rain is forcast the best chance they can get is to let em go this afternoon giving em a better chance to get into uk 2nite then carry on 2m sure will be a test for us all!!! one bloke in our fed said let em go as at least they got a 300mile start!! what about the other 200!! sure he would go mad if they let go his land birds go from littlehampton in rain!!!
think its daft for not wanting to stamp birds so they dont to pay to get em back dad lost 3of his best best birds from one race of which 1had over 20 cards. If this is the reason not having to send for them back think again cos you can loose your best!!! also its easy to report birds either by internet or phone of which ive reported several this year & got owners details with 24hours,mine personally are all stampted & got black rings with tel number on.
which is fine if it lands into a pigeon loft we know what to do but if a non fancier gets 1in they sometimes are clue less threfore must be stampted failing that they should be fined.
depends on any obstructions you may have but normally face towards the race point or if any obstructions face the loft as near to the race point as possible
ive heard of people puting em back on darkness at 8pm till 10pm i know its only 2hours but aparently they hold there feather right till end of season as the nights start to get shorter the birds then start to moult again!!
