Timed in at 06.34 Sunday. 3 year old hen is a bundle of feathers. She was on the ground trying to get moisture from the grass. I put a dogs bowl down for her and she came right over for a drink. I then had to guide into the loft door as she could not get up. On inspection she is bashed in her left side, blood is congealed on her legs and rings. Clearly doos are struggling to find water coming home from these channel races.

  15. I am as gutted as anyone else at the outcome of our blue riband event. Two of my best birds were sent and still no sign tonight But I feel the race organisers and convoyes are taking a certain amount of unfair criticism. Nobody disagreed when the race was postponed because of conditions over the weekend. In previous years the birds would of been held over for days before being released and with possibly the same result. It is also clear to me that the convoyers give the birds the best possible care. At the 2015 young bird national the birds went up on the Friday,a first in my memory, and we had a great race. I feel the current organisers are a forward thinking committee and should be given a fair hearing not a lynching. Finally, congratulations to all who timed in and good luck to all for the rest of the season

  23. through decades of hard work I'm in the fortunate position of having a super team which can score at any distance. But on the point of the forum my money would have been spent on one or maybe two on the Padfield sale recently. If these birds had continental names, they're price would of been astronomical
  24. Going from memory so would welcome some input. SNFC flew Niort circa 1988? Larry Campbell and Bob McDonald clocked the only 2 birds and both were around 10 years old. This was a stinker after around 4 day holdover. Again apologies for any errors and would welcome any corrections. I had one in this race with my late father Bill but we never saw him again!
