Well for starters, cats DO NOT have the right to roam, let alone a licence, that is a myth! Nor do they have the right to crap between your runner beans, let alone in your garden. These are basic facts. Also any damage of loss of a bird is redeemable against the cat owner. Another little fact! Prevention is better though than Cure though I believe, so get an electric fence. They are legal! Also now one can buy one that costs less than £70 and will surround the whole garden. And they can run off a 9 Volt Battery. Place the wire just high enough for a creeping cat to crawl under. They always raise their tails... ping they pee off big time. Once is normally enough. Twice is seldom, for they leave a wide birth after the first little jolt. They then place a nose to it perhaps. Then they will smell a electric fence yonks away... they seldom if ever come back once they have had a little pang. I have a three prong wired one that runs of a car battery, or a battery charger. Yes I told my neighbours… seems now nigh every one is getting a £70 one! Most Garden centres or Farm Supplies carry them.

Great to get the RSPCA involved... means they will be using that as another excuse to get their begging bowls out again. Good job it was reported to some like the Animal Recue service or Animal right etc. But suppose they will jump on the band wagon as soon as they hear. Yes disgraceful as it is, less said sooner mend, and no good shut the barn door after the horse has bolted. far, Far better avenues available than getting ‘Money Making Machines’ involve with another story at the expense of this sport I reckon! Still harm is done now! Another nail is awaiting though ... We need bad publicity like a hole in the head. We need positive and worthwhile things only to be made known and addressed in the media. But I agree whole - heartedly that it is inexcusable and unbelievable, and someone should be held to an account.

Never been ... Seems that the entertainment is great, other than that, the sames ones in the clubs that sit and pally go together to do the same there lol.

Go into Thomsons or Nationwaide, no charge for exchanging money - after consulting with Karen James at the RPRA and send a letter wrapped around the notes! But really the RPRA will sort it so you can race / breed or whatever. Remember the cost to have it back is a small fortune. Over a £100 12 years ago... so he don't want it.... cheaper to make holes in a shoe box and have a day out visiting his loft lol

Well the + may have some truth Peterpan, but 500 milers have never been hard to have and race. Infact can't be many birds that can't or won't do the 500 miles on the day. So yes I agree some may be frightened to lose a vested, by not send further, but few to - day wory about a 500 miler I believe. JMO

lot of truth there Don. Mind http://www.comproware.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=DB_phpBB2&file=index is the Hawkeye. Was being used before Wynberg, which was pacifically made for Pigeo Famciers by a Pigeon Fancier. And it's free, so.... Mind Sounds like I am touting lol, which of course I'm not lol.

Have also heard good things about http://www.comproware.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=DB_phpBB2&file=index But have never tried it. I believe there is a cost here though ... after a trial period.

Likewise the Still Nights, when nothing at all moves. Not rabbits, nor Foxes or even badgers. Had a good friend who was one of the most acknowledge Game Keepers around this way. He use to say 'Good job the Hunter wasn't hunting for the prey wouldn't have moved... but then they needn't, as NOTHING moves. Silent eerie night for sure are they...... Likewise when the Seagulls Mill. Best place for the birds is.... In the loft!

Then there was the Lad, Mr Titmus related somehow as I recall,in the BHW. had them 2 years or so. O/B season, First race 1st National, and not many have done that!

Alan had 12 y/b's bred him to start him up. But due to wok and travelling hadn't much time. Yes he let them out etc. Fed watered and they lived the life of Riley. He lost six and decided to get shot and start again when time permitted later. Rather than cull he just sent them to the last Race, Berwick 260 miles, all six of them 1st Club and all 6 in top ten. Also 3 top ten Fed cards. Terry's daughter sadly died and he was quite naturely devasted. Happens it was the first season I started up. He got shot all his birds bar two youngsters that no one seemed to want as they had been flying out. I tossed them 20 Miles North as he was going to send the last Race that week - end. Never sent them with me. His nephew put them in the outh road club. Seaton, pushing 200 miles 1st Club, 1st TWO CITY Fed! Go figure. They were loft fit and fresh?

Where is the Fancy's P.R. Firm!

Y/b's are a lot leveller and novices have better chances as a whole, I feel, of winning or being nearer to the top come Race Night. Which is also good, as in most cases it is their’ first races. Most do not fly broken old birds, like I did lol. Still I quite enjoyed that and got real excited and a great buzz as I recall at the time.
-
Well personally I seldom if ever race y/b's. If I did I'd go North. Rd as I'd get a lot further distance. Makes no difference, as far as I see, switching them when and as I feel when they are older. But I'd like to say that if I was really interesting in the South Rd ... then again I'd prefer East, I'd reckon that now is the time to sort out NEXT season's old birds agenda. Never mind fighting a lost cause in regards y/b's racing for this season, Time is now be asking DAFRA for the same rights and privileges as most of our fellow member states of the European counter parts! This NOW! instead of next May / June time!

I think that they are / need to be seen by Joe Public what is right and responcible in THEIR eyes. After all it is in August when the Migrations start again in ernest, and we will NO doubt be centre of attraction. FOR there is a very good chance that Avian Flu WILL strike us a few times this year. Either way they have covered their A**e's and being in the game of Politics, if this is the course cthey have chosen, who could realistically expect much different
