I often like I often harp on about this or that, most on deaf ears lol. But let's anno-lyse the costs and what one realistically would be happy with. Remembering that times change with the cost and style of living. For starters the cost of the mortgage, kids, and what not, a family can soon get unwanted tensions in today's society. Was a time when many were happy renting and saving a little and live on orange boxes till a ole stool or bench was found lol. But again my real big bug bind in this regards is the stupid scenario's one often hear about why folks pack up, or don't come into this - or any other sport. I shall state here and now the unfair pressure placed on fancier to 'Be a part of' and striving for unrealistic goals. the stupid and very harsh brush tarnishing then with unfair scenarios to better their own coffers. A stigma for not wanting to, or willing to 'Win at all costs' as if this is in some way what competing and enjoying is all about! Rubbish, taking part with a wing and prayer, accepting losing gracefully with no scorn coming their way is a beauty all unto it's self I feel. Those a bit better off, constantly trying to feather their own nests, and belittle those, intentionally or not, if they can't afford it, or better still NOT ABLE! Not everyone can master the simple reality of racing pigeons. IT'S NOT A 'A rocket SCIENTIST' game. BUT most haven't got a born in natural affinity to succeed. Like all walks of life and pastimes. Many, yes very many indeed, were, and would be happy with a few birds, the odd good performance, and a contented household. Yes too many are too proud to admit they can't AFFORD, and don't want to be fodder, plying cash into the more fortunates coffers. MOST would be very happy just to be in a realistic, sensible SECTION, for starter. And remember above all, the good club man is often the least successful. Let them / us JUST enjoy and pay a few bob towards being happy and content with their simple and realistic happy past time. We don't ALL want to be winners, especially at any cost. We don't need, nor want the pressures of Winning at all costs' A happy home life and content with a few birds with a little success augers well for most. NO nor do we want to be 'Top Dogs', just the odd feeling of being appreciated and dream and above all to

Tend to agree... but then it is the same whatever Sport / Hobby you wish to go into I feel. When I run a few footballs sides in the early 80's hardley ever got anyone paying subs, let alone offering. Now the have to pay £££'s upfront for their kids to enrol into the squad, let alone play. Mate a couple of doors up only goes fishing once in a while with club / matches as he can't afford it, and his kids are grown up. a little while back they reckon £100 for feed, ground baits etc. before you took the rod out... or poles etc. now. Golly was sucessful with marmite sarnies, worms, slugs, Spiders brill when needed a fish for tea, and a mouse if wanting a pike for a week - end... Costs... not a lot. And many baits were banned from use... Off on one lol so will start another thread called... 'happy with ones lot ' I guess.

Seems reasonable and sensible.

Came in tonight, missis say that a sparrow hawk had eaten a pigeon on top of the shed next to loft. That she satyed in and didn't want to watch etc. - understandably. My birds were in, so was A. a Stray, a late comer or a dobve. No legs etc left just feathers... Dove most likely. Shame really as I woulod have put a nice sauce on it, like anti freeze for it to come back to. But yet again just why doesn't the fancy collectively use Pour On invetamin! Does us, the pigeons and the raptures the world of good! Indeed could have then offered my heart felt condonacies and a little prayer for the poor Hawk. normal invetamin does do the job, has to be the pour on type for percy's delight!

Seems about what I'd had thought personally. But what if he is say a Frank Bristow, A Geof Kirkland or Frank Tasker etc. etc. ... Not undermining these great flyers or decrying them in any way shape or form, but they fit the scenario of what I am implying. For they are good flyers and well known flyers - Indeed I suppose also becuase I know both the Franks and can personaly attest to their' genuinebility. But is it isolant, rude to ask such as these for them place credit in any thing that hey may claim! Or would a it bit wrong.? Further, what about when many other posters pop up ... which ALWAYS happens to defend their' reputations and decry one as being a 'Loser' or 'Jealous' and not fit to lick their boots etc. etc. That one should know better and just who the heck are YOU to ask such of a such! Indeed does the same principle apply to well attested flyers same as any other? Indeed is it wrong to ask them to substatiate ant claims they make!!!?

WWF has had to change it's name... has Billions, spent nowt. Save the Tiger fund likewise it would appear. Tusami hasn't spent, but is wait incase there is another. Golly couldn't even quickly mamager to set the Water cleansing up. would have been only a short spat of time.....

I am wondering pjc. I personally was of the opinnion that if you had something to shout about, 'Scream it from the House tops'. - When nowt good. shut up lol. Further was wondering, perplex even why thay won't, can't answer a simple basic enquiery. But it does seem that they can 'Shout' about nothing, and get credit for ....... Nothing!

I know many 'Seller's' refrain from racing due to the fact that they may not / can't or couldn't repeat their' performances that made their name. Indeed as **** ****** says' I moved west and wouldn't have done any good and YOU can't sell if not sucessful'. So I packed up flying. Fair comment wouldn't one think?
-
So why do certain 'Sellers' not answer straight simple basic questions... especially if they claim tremedous results their birds. I would have thought that spouting who did what and what not was really in their own interests!

Mr Winkle done very well with the Spirits and Smagd 1 and 2. Just crossed doubled grandchildrens and Robert was his mother's Brother!

yeah, or Strong Rig, same stuff. But you know we should all really be buying Invetmin POUR ON. For the Club, fed whatever, but we would be doing our birds good, and helping ourselves with regards other problems.....

A first class gent, a wealth of free knowledge, always willing to listen and advice, and argueably the best birds in Europe, with the likes of Ron Williamson. Take a peekers, and then remember and take into account his loft position. That says it all. Some write ups of him..... http://www.nrcc.co.uk/Racing/RaceReports/Lerwick/tabid/73/language/en-GB/Default.aspx http://www.nrcc.co.uk/Racing/RaceReports/Thurso/tabid/72/language/en-GB/Default.aspx http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=frankbristow+pigeon&meta=

I'd buy Louella if I was of mind and nary a worry. Has bred and sold International winner, both here and abroad! Not many around in my Fed doing that! JMO

Yes, and look at all the Greyhounds etc. etc. But they have Good P.R. Firms.
-
Very true and apt... in as much as we need, and I forever keeping banging the drum, we need more than ever a P.R. firm. We see the prove of te pudding in so very many walks of life every day.

If the 'Chief Constable' says I can no longer park outside my own house, is it right that I may question it? Of Lambast Come again Cameron, or Q. C. says that it is in my interests to always wear an overcoat or Rain Mac, can I ask Why? Remember that there is only one answer to Why.
-
Think you would be better to send a private email there mate. Regards Roland

Sorry, I must be a politician lol. I am actually asking 'Is it right for any buyer, or interested party, to ask for simple basic facts? Or is this regarded as a bloody cheek! Especially if the claims are unsustanciated or seem far fetched... especially if made by a so - call name or celeb?

The Half-Wit A man owned a small farm in Aberdeenshire. The Department of Wages claimed he was not paying proper wages to his staff and sent a representative out to interview him. 'I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,' demanded the rep. 'Well,' replied the farmer, 'there's my farm hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him £200 a week plus free room and board. The cook/housekeeper has been here for 18 months, and I pay her £150 per week plus free room and board. Then there's the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about £10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of whiskey every Saturday night. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally.' 'That's the guy I want to talk to...the half-wit,' says the agent. 'That would be me,' replied the farmer. _________________ Little boy at the nude beach. A mother and father take their 6-year old son to a nude beach. As the boy walks along the sand, he notices that many of the women Have boobs bigger than his mother's, so he goes back to ask her why. She tells her son, 'The bigger they are, the sillier the lady is.' The boy, pleased with the answer, goes to play in the ocean but returns to tell his mother that many of the men have larger things than his dad does. She replies, 'The bigger they are, the dumber the man is' Again satisfied with her answer, the boy goes back to the ocean to play. Shortly thereafter, the boy returns and promptly tells his mother, 'Daddy is talking to the silliest lady on the beach, and the longer he talks, the dumber he gets.' WHY GOD MADE MOMS Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions: Why did God make mothers? 1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is. 2. Mostly to clean the house. 3. To help us out of there when we were getting born. How did God make mothers? 1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us. 2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring. 3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts. What ingredients are mothers made of? 1 God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean. 2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think. Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom? 1. We're related. 2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me. What kind of little girl was your mom? 1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff. 2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy. 3. They say she used to be nice. What did mom need to know about dad before she married him? 1. His last name. 2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? 3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores? Why did your mom marry your dad? 1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot. 2. She got too old to do anything else with him. 3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Who's the boss at your house? 1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball. 2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed. 3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad. What's the difference between moms & dads? 1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work. 2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them. 3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's. 4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine. What does your mom do in her spare time? 1. Mothers don't do spare time. 2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long. What would it take to make your mom perfect? 1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery. 2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue. If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be? 1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that. 2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me. 3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head. Dublin Girls, Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their new wives duties. The first man had married a woman from Cork and had told her that she was going to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away. The second man had married a woman from Glasgow. He had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking. The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done, and there was a huge dinner on the table. The third man had married a beautiful girl from Oxford. He told her that her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by the third day some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, enough to fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher

Barley is a great Blood purifier. So that, I feel, has to be good all the year round. Tic Beans, and Maples Peas are getting scarcer by the minute, mores the pity. So I like a little Linseed each day before the main feed, and then young bird mix does very well, but again that will become scarer as it has Maples and Tic Beans in it..... Mayorder 10 bags now to be safe, Linseed has a good protein content, a great natual laxative, and above all naturauk Oil, that that as far as I'm concern must bve good for the moult,m feathers and again a little regularly all year round feed. Wheat and Barley mix is grea, and was used regularly in not too long ago times. May have to with hold a days feed once a week. Reason that Barley etc. may make the birds fat if over done is that they over eat to compensate for the properties missing, so again a lot more waste too - cleaning out. JMO.
