  2. No doubt those two will play great for their' clubs. Must admit yet again I personally think is time to replace Terry and get a couple of youngsters in NOW. His days are gone for England. As for Rooney, well let him stay world class with Man U for he hasn't the brain, nor ever even turns up for England. Think man U will be there at the death yet again. Chelsea of course and Man City MUST ne there abouts surely! Then there is a cluster swarming to get a looking in. Must be the most competative season EVER for the English premiership. A sad thing regards Scotland competative wise for far too long, and has cost them, I feel, dearly over the years with just having a two horse race with the odd swallow. This competative season(s) must auger well for the sport, and definately moreso for the home players. It must lift the game, and as such make better all round footballers, and players able to perform on the Euro and World stage. Capello will sort out us... Hope the rest do likewise ofcourse.

  4. Have a main stay of releases here abouts. Hydes etc. etc. Many folks gathering to see them. Was a sad case a few years back where one was poisoned. However they are no threat to our birds and most fanciers know that!
  5. Personally I believe it is a mind sett matter set in. One where they believe now that they are there to lose. Worst still that it doesn't matter and what else does one expect. Not the fans, that's for sure... arguably as loyal and fiesty as any. Like us the first thing is to get shot of any, regardless how good for club etc. that doesn't want to give 100% and would play for nothing, even pay their own expenses etc. Like us, now we have to get shot of Rooney and Lampard - who both did a little better, for they are like John Barnes, Kenny Dalglish whom never peformed above once any good for their countries. Johnson on the right back was the best he has ever done... but I think against better opposition he should be discarded as he hasn't got the mind sett needed for international playing. Time to regroup and get the youngster chasing and running, intercepting the ball. Attcking the ball and working for each other one hundred percent. When you stand on their toes they have a job to play.... when we have the ball we want SPACE! Best England has played regards merit. ALL wanted to play. Gerard was inspirational as per norm. Keeper quite good and confident. Scotland have, and alway do it would seem great individual players, but never sem to gell... was a great world class side 1978, / 82 even, but under performed. Why? Most great british sides have a dour workerholic that is Scottish in mid field. Why aren't they at international level? Mind sett and gelling. Adaptable able to excert and play different games. every one in the last world cup Knew how we played our game... We did theirs too... till thay changed it and we couldn't read the manyscript lol. So the players don't become useless overnight... Ours are too much prima donna' believing the own hype and letting the ego run away with themselves.... Legends in their own mind.

    What Next

I have heard this so many times over the years that the money coming in from the 'Blackpool Show / week - end could and should be used for our needs etc. etc. Further that it is vorganised via the RPRA etc. The simple fact is, - though the RPRA are still trying to alter it - it has nothing to do with the RPRA whatsoever money wise, and they don't get a penny out of it! This again was brought out beginning of the year and what the RPRA are trying to come to arrangements to and with.
  7. Nah I'm awake. Just rewatched that Gerards goals. Pure class both of them. If Kaka or Messi did as such they would be beam 'World Class'.... which of course he is and they were.
  8. Yes ... also they have ousted the Storks as they are more reliable and fly in any weather lol

  10. Actually Bigda, pigeons have made a very big come back regards 'Messages' and the Services. Many nations realise that anything sent via Electric / wave lengths can, indeed is and has been intercepted, read and deciphered. Whereas the pigeon is not.... only if caught or is Hawk bait.
  11. A 'Spin doctor' Ian! I've been touting long and hard for nearly 20 years for a P.R. spokesman etc. The RPRA did and was looking at / into this a few years back. The 'Backlash' from the members was horrendous, simply saying that A. A £1 was too much and not warrented, and B. Surely with all the 'Rich People' company owners etc. etc. some one ought to be found to do it for Free! You, because they run sucessful buisness they had nothing to do, so should put their resauses to better use Ekk! Would be lol, but is a to sad if a joke! this was a reply made - Via Repete' on the Alberts Classic site, which confirms what you say Ian..... Quote: F.Y.I. The columnist that wrote this article and the zoning official have it wrong and are out right lying when they say: "Some Members of the Gulfcoast Club have come forward to say some restrictions on the number of birds are needed." IT IS ONLY ONE GUY ! And he is the reason for this whole fiasco. I'm not saying the club is totally without fault here, they had the opportunity to correct this zoning a few years back and did nothing. It was their opinion to leave it alone, that nothing would come of it, so they stuck their heads in the sand. Well all it took was one malcontent to go to the county and start screaming. And now Pandora's Box has been opened and the feathers will start flying, and it didn't have to be like that. Back in 2003 Hernando County (that would be the short end of GHC) had a similar problem. The zoning people wanted to bring pigeons into the ordinance since they were not included and wanted to limit the number of birds per parcel (didn't matter 1, 2 or 10 acre) to 45 birds per. Back then We (Members of FSI & GHC) took on the county with a series of meetings and were successful to have the ordinance brought into our favor. They rewrote the proposed amendment to permit a loft of 1500sq. ft. per acre no limit on birds. This of course is for the AR & R districts. The officers of the GHC back then had the same opportunity to do same in Pasco and blew it...........so now we have to fight PETA and anyone that thinks pigeons are flying rats..............and there are a lot with that sentiment. I'm constantly defending & educating people about our Sport. Just as a side note...........I got hassled by the officers and a few in the clique during our Classic last year...........I actually had the unmitigated Gaul to invite members of the Hernando County Commission, County Attorney and Code Enforcement Director to our club house to witness what our Sport is all about and what we do for the economy of both counties. Oh yeah, even the Engineer that drew up our print for the new addition. These people up till this time had no idea what we the flyers have vested in this Sport..............needless to say.......they were very impressed. And I can say with their approval Hernando County IS PIGEON FRIENDLY !
  12. As one that flies both ways, and having won Bergerac and the Thurso 2 weeks later with same bird I’ll put my twopence worth in lol. Yes mostly my birds are ONE team and go where sent! Like many others I train wherever one gets a cost effective lift in any direction. (Makes me think – just this minute - that my birds are missing out because I tend to train more one way now I am able to drive and go up the road) Which I must add also my birds fly alternative routes depending on the 'Race Merit' I wish to have a go at. So then I can't see any merit training or racing regards where - Personally - it bears any merit. As for Clashing, where they are honed onto their’ course home! They don't see much at all until last second. Swerving to miss trees, or flitting over a hedge. Also regards clashing they are, and would be nigh every week at different heights depending on the wind. I live 2 hundred yards from Wicksteeds park, where liberations are often held. Much the time my youngsters have flown through, from a race, masses of pigeons circling overhead. Likewise I, and others take our youngsters up to the park and release them with those birds. They either A. Fly round and home straight of. B. Disappear with them and come back at various times. This is regard via some past masters as a great learning curve. Now they love to fly it would appear with company... but not when wanting home, they fly with the so called drag as long as it is heading their' way... they learn to break. Of course they do, they must do or you'd never get any home from a race. JMO and experiences.
  13. Further, it is a bit monger spreading eh, a bit drastic to compare YB/S with Aids. Rather silly really as y/b’s is cured, can be gotten over with little or no ill effects! Besides the reality is very few die to say the least. Well unless culled. Like F/M really, drastic action is taken… whether needed or not I don’t know. Inoculations / cures is to me, one that can be likened to this ‘Tuberculosis’ issue regards Cattle and Badgers. One is pork and the other is beef . Strong case as ever that cattle don’t get it from badgers… Farmers losing out – or not of course have a different view and with a different aspect. So it appears that the most cost effective strategy is to inoculate all Badgers, and all Cattle. Which even with regards of the man hours etc. put in the overall cost is less than the insurance having to be paid out each year somewhere. So I am led to believe (Dafra have interesting reading in this regards). Plus the cost of the farms closure. then add the cost it has on lost trading of the infected farms. Yet still it is being put on hold . Incidentally that is why there has never been so many supposedly ‘Road Killed’ badgers left on side of the road. Hands up all those that have seen a badger crossing a road at night! No! It is very rare to say the least, and then to be hit… Yet we see new carcesses every other day now! Come on now get real! They are being dragged out with a Hoe like contraption (Which when the badger get hold of after repeatedly struck and jabbed at, they won't let go of). then they are clobbered to be left at the road side. I’ve done over 20 years of night driving coming back from gigs… indeed with my band and Groups you can double that and then some more, and yet I’ve never ever seen a badger on the road at night!

  15. Can only follow the logic on this debate where a table of top flyers, and a prominent Vet ALL agreed and stated that the sooner, say Y/B'S, goes through the loft the better.... treat for all and not repeatedly and constantley individuals. So yes I.B. as I've often stated that is the reason they leave vomit etc. for others to peck at. regardless of our disgust, or thinking! Llikewise, as most will know innoculation is mostly a mild form of whatever you are inoculatinge against. SO THE immune system can then allow natures great cures to take place and build an immunity up. This is how mongrel dogs wandered streets showing ill effects from pavro etc. The immune system must be given a chance to build up resistance. Yes I agree we need to very often take action and use remendies to couter act, and ease, help our birds sometimes. Of course we do, but the quicker a loft is sort THROUGHOUT the better, and not having the problem of constant recurrences.
  16. PETA objects to Pasco lifting limit on homing pigeons By Jodie Tillman, Times Staff Writer DADE CITY — Back in February, the owners of some luxury lofts in north Pasco asked for permission to add countless new tenants. At the time, no one seemed to give a hoot. The loft owners were members of the Gulfcoast Homing Pigeon Club, and the tenants were their birds. Club members wanted Pasco to reconsider the limit of 20 birds per acre that is spelled out in county code. Human neighbors registered no objections. Pasco officials were poised to lift the restrictions. But last month, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals entered the picture, and they had serious allegations about pigeon racing, the sport of releasing the birds hundreds of miles from their homes and seeing which ones can return fastest. PETA told commissioners in a letter that it was not an old-fashioned hobby but a potentially lucrative investment that puts money over the health of the birds. What's more, PETA said, the industry is predicated on "unlawful racing, unlawful gambling and callously reducing intelligent and sensitive animals to nothing more than disposable commodities." Gulfcoast homing members told the Pasco Times that PETA has got it all wrong: on the gambling allegations, on the cruelty allegations, on the money-making part. "You don't make money racing," said Shady Hills resident Zig Vanderwall, 67, a club founder who has been raising pigeons since he was 9 years old. Either way, county officials on Tuesday put the brakes on the proposed changes and decided to sort it all out at a public workshop they will schedule at a later date. Pasco County has quietly become one of the top destinations for people who want to raise and train homing pigeons. Officials from the 200-member Gulfcoast Homing Pigeon Club say that most of them have moved to the area just to be in proximity to each other. And their bird lofts aren't cheap: Some cost as much as $50,000, said Vanderwall. "We're pretty much the leaders in pigeon racing in the United States," assistant county zoning administrator Lee Millard told commissioners on Tuesday. But in the July 13 letter to commissioners, PETA lawyer Jeffrey Kerr said Gulfcoast club trainers kill off the old pigeons to make room for the younger, faster ones. "Nearly all of the surviving birds, most of whom are not even 1-year-old and remain healthy, will have their necks wrung by their trainers to make room in the lofts for the new arrivals because young birds are most lucrative," the letter says. "Only a select few winners and those chosen for breeding will be spared this death." Vanderwall said that the accusation is false. He said birds race up till about the age of 3 and then they are used for breeding. "We don't wring their necks," said Vanderwall. "I don't know where they got that." PETA, which has gone after pigeon racers in other states, also says that the Gulfcoast club violates Florida law that prohibits any racing — other than horse and greyhound racing — that is conducted for any stake or purse. Gulfcoast conducts one major race a year, which it calls "the largest and most prestigious futurity race in the country!" The upcoming event in December features a $40,000 first prize for the pigeon that returns to Pasco first from a dropoff point roughly 300 miles away in Georgia. (The fastest ones will likely take less than six hours, said Vanderwall.) Vanderwall said PETA is off-base in its assertions though. Only people who own pigeons qualify for the prize; no one could come off the street and place a bet as he could at a greyhound race. "We do not gamble," he said. "There is an entry fee, just like at a bass tournament." Vanderwall said pigeon owners from all over the country ship their birds to Gulfcoast trainers. Sixty percent of the prize money goes to the breeder and 40 percent to the trainer. Prize money is collected from the $100 per bird entrance fee. Around 37,000 birds have been shipped here so far for the event, Vanderwall said. The classic is the club's only big event of the year, he said. The prize in other smaller races is just a trophy. Millard, the Pasco zoning official, said it's not just PETA complaining now. Some members of the Gulfcoast club have come forward to say the restrictions on the number of birds are needed, he said. He said the county may want to consider making pigeon lofts subject to county inspections, limiting the size of the lofts and limiting the number of hours per day that the birds are exercised. Commissioner Michael Cox said he was struck by the amount of prize money at stake, according to a flier for the club's December race. "When this was originally proposed to us, it was presented to us in a way that it was people's hobby," he said. "This goes beyond being a hobby." _________________ Again I urge you all to READ nigh all of this. Statistics over the last ten years and sub headings. 18. Well it WAS predicted time after time. Many were the warnings, and pleas to the fancy to get on board and get talks with the RSPB first off. Response if possible was even worst than it is now in real terms! Seems akin to the ladies knitting and jawing, those who sat twiddling thumbs whilst thinking 'don’t matter to me none, I'm not affected'. Further and worst still like Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned, we sat idly by wishing and dreaming of 'A White Knights on silver chargers; galloping to sort out our' 'Cause' We were not listened to because our governing bodies only ever, as even now, aimed to appease the powers to be, namely the RSPB and the oily money making machine. We were ridicules and laughed at, as now, because we just sit, whinge and moan, spout fire and do nothing. Not even send a Email. Attend a meeting. worst so called 'Pigeon lovers' have sabataguered, belittle and effectively stop any and every one i any compacity from trying to help them! Now that is a very sad but true state of affairs eh! Even now with the scarlet bloody messages adorning our Lofts, the Lib sites, and seeing the wanton evilness of the RSPB whom are deliberately setting up 'Towers' over looking fancier’s lofts, over conservationist terrains! Maybe it hasn't sunk in that there aren't, and never have been in reality, any Knights in shinny white armour, and the only Damsels in distress were those being raped by the very knights. Some things never change eh! Time to wake up and smell the coffee eh!? Until, if ever, everyone does his' or her' little bit, and then it will get more progressively worst obviously. Like Tesco says 'Every little helps'. If the numbers were 10 fold, then notice would be heeded. A thousand fold then the powers to be, the governing bodies too, would have to accept they have gone too far by far and peed a few off to say the least. Yes and they would be bound to accept that the action being taken was for a JUST cause. If every fancier scored with just one hit, even better a pair, then eyes would lift up. All interested parties would be summoned to take part. The RPRA and other such dormant useless *****8 could, and should then be told that they aren't needed to negotiate on our’ behalf, but to be represented in name only. THAT the actual body could, and would be elected fanciers that cared, and who were, are willing to put their plight forward. Those lone voices in the wilderness yes such, as Bilco etc. would be heard! In the mea time if no let up was seen to be coming, then the wheels would move very quickly indeed in an effect to stop a total eradication of ALL B.O.P. But a trip of a thousand miles needs that first step to be taken. A. Hands up any one who hasn't heard of the devastation via B.O.P.! B. Hands anyone who in all honesty doesn't know how to deal with an Ariel killer in the district! C. Hands up who still believe in the Shinny Knight and the Tooth fairy. Simple really eh! Stop moaning, whinging, and help not only your selves, become that unknown soldier, become quietly one going about ones own business and forgo any bragging right, yet every other bird keeper besides yourself eh!

  23. Simple reality is that until fanciers do their bit. Stand up quietly without out being seen so to speak, then yes this phlight will increase. Think time is when all the culls sold at meat markes are bought and used as a cull to cull. No need for anyone to breed their own. Just buy for pennies what the asians buy for dinner, and allow others to have their dinner ... their last ofcourse. 1 pair now means 20 pairs or more at least three years down the line... and at 6 pigeons a day it doesn't take rocket science to work out that 1000's of birds will be saved just via one pair removed nicely.
