  1. You've pinched my Battle of Hastings! Well I'll go for 1099 then!
  2. Unexpectedly got the last one back this morning (I must admit I thought she was gone for good) She's thin - but lives to fight another day
  3. Forgot to report - 13/17 on the day and 3 more on Monday - just one missing - a very consistent 3 year old hen who has scored a few times
  4. Race both - but would prefer to race just hens. We've had our best results with hens since we started racing them and think we should just concentrate on them (the hens that is) - they are far more consistent than the cocks.
  5. Reported on the Stray section on facebook Strays landed in a loft in Scarborough IHU 13 S 23270 23271 23275 23278 all race rubbered (4 x 3 year old Irish rung within 8 numbers of each other...!) Amazing - only one courier charge!!

    Is that EC?
  7. I am surprised so many were sent in our club - considering the forecast. The weather is nowhere near as good as the forecast for Sunday. We were the only loft in the club who only sent half a team 17 members sent 404 birds (last week 18 members sent 436)
  8. UNC Rivenhall (Southend - Essex) Groups 1, 4 & 6 to be liberated at 10.20am (not happy - weather still sh*t at home end - I'm being told it will clear )
  9. Who is working out the result? Just use the correct lib time. People make mistakes - it happens all the time.
  10. UNC Rivenhall - held over. Fog and poor visibility from Whitby up the North East coast
  11. I have a microscope and used it for a couple of years. At the same time I also had their droppings tested now and again by the vet. The last 4 years I have not bothered testing them myself and only had the vet do them.
  12. You would be surprised at my loft. Down 2 cocks these have been replaced with an 11 year old and one out of the stock loft who is settled. The 11 year old has not raced for 7 years - he did an hour and 20 minutes this morning - half an hour more than the race cocks. Best position so far this season was a 6 year old hen in the first race - and she was pooled up! We don't lose many old birds in inland races, it's the channel races and in particular in North East winds where we have suffered the majority of our losses in the past. If it was up to me I would just race hens....
  13. Lemsip includes a dose of paracetamol - please be aware you shouldn't take both together
  14. Race 1 sent 16 cocks and 18 hens - 1 3 year old cock missing presumed dead Race 2 sent 15 cocks and 18 hens all home Race 3 as above Race 4 sent 15 cocks and 16 hens (1 hen broke 2 flights in one wing and is out for the rest of the season another hen got out and didn't come back in time for basketing! All hens home, 1x 2 year old cock missing (again presumed dead) Apart from the missing ones - all the birds were home by the time I'd returned from reading clocks. Next race is from 202 miles

    Ouch!

It survived - but hit with such force it frightened the dog!
  23. Do you loft fly first? They always seem keener to trap when they've had 40 minutes or so round the loft. Trap to a bit of seed then into basket for training
