A dessertspoon is not very big only 10ml. Do people only feed that small an amount to their birds? Less than an ounce a day?

There's 2 spare boxes in the new stock loft

He didn't actually fly in the club 1st one was bred by Bob McGillicuddy - the best flier in Redcar club (NY) - a gift bird (not 100% sure it has been transferred) and the second was bred by Darren Frost and grandson (MAD)

Just seen this - so may well apply to SHU if it's the same supplier Can we ask members who have purchased 2018 life rings to check the year . In one isolated case 10 rings have 2017 not 2018 . If members find they have the same issue can you report back to your club secretary immediately and not use the rings . If you have already put the rings on birds can you contact to union office for advice

This is the same for the NEHU I sorted the club rings yesterday - there were some really rough ones, the rounded edge was ok - but the other had projections, some would need to be filed down not good enough really, something needs to be said at the AGM (for us) - we also have to get ring orders in in July for the following year By the time January came round - we were 100 rings short as people changed their minds!

Yes - and I washed their flights and did their feet last night - and had to change the shavings and do their feet again this morning. They were fine without a drink. And were fed and watered when I got home at 3.

Show was today - interesting comments from the Judge - but not directed to me! The Judge used an eye glass - the owner of show winner was advised not to race it anymore and to put it in the stock loft where he expected the hen to reproduce her like (she has several firsts and has bred a fed topper) - the hen is 3 years old One of mine got a 'Very Highly Commended' (5th!) Though his marking sheets gave 3 of our 4 a score of 8 (which included this one who was 5th) I have previously posted a photo of her with results (see link)- the actual racepoint for the show race is the one she has 2 combine cards for http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/topic/6821-picture-of-members-best-bird-and-it-result/page__st__34

You have headed this post 'Preventatives' The post does not represent that..... What are you trying to prevent? Paratyphoid? Acidify the gut (citric acid powder - cheap as - only a tiny bit required, or cider vinegar or 'something else') Use probiotics (Primalac, Frazer's P3, Gemthepax, Strike - loads of others available) Antibiotics are not preventatives - they're treatments

Anybody Been Shaking The Presents Under The Tree ?
REDCHEQHEN replied to andy Burgess's topic in Chit-Chat
My grandchildren are aged (almost) 18 and 19 so it's money! I'm difficult to buy for - so I pretty much know what I'm getting as I've been asked what I want. I don't get surprises very often. But you never know! -
Hope you've had a good race with good returns - best morning we've had here in Redcar for a few weeks - very sunny breezy and bright today

I've downloaded it myself out of curiosity - though I don't drink beer It's a large PDF download of 101MB and contains the recipes of all the craft beers they have made since 2005 Just thought I'd share (Merry Christmas ) https://www.brewdog.com/diydog

Columbovac is not approved in this country - it's a Roumanian vaccine Colombovac is the approved one - check your bottle note the subtle difference in the spelling

Flights are straightened all year round with steam from a kettle - but why no water the night before? Some people let their birds have a bath on the morning - others wouldn't - I wouldn't!

I'm very much a novice when it comes to showing - and usually only show in 'Show races' - that is, showing your bird at an event where your pigeon is going to race in a particular race. How do you prepare your bird for showing? Me? Very basic - check the birds flights for lice, fret marks, pin holes etc Nothing goes in the show pen with any of the above (and you would be amazed at how many people have lice on their birds - they're put straight back in the pen and not considered)) Wash their feet - dust with talcum powder - so their feet don't look as if they've just been washed! Very basic - judging is a lot to do with personal taste - which is probably why we've never won in the show pen! What do you do in preparation?

Pigeon Wellbeing Advice Needed
REDCHEQHEN replied to frank frank's topic in Guidelines, Help & Advice
If it is paratyphoid - it is a zoonotic disease and can be passed to humans, so it wouldn't surprise me if it could also be passed onto dogs - if the dog is in the habit of eating faeces in the garden. Some dogs do (mine included ....!!!! ) -

List Of Garden & House Plants Unsafe / Safe For Birds
REDCHEQHEN replied to a topic in Natural Remedies & Supplements
A good plant to have in the garden is Verbascum. It is a herbal remedy for minor ailments and respiratory infections. Birds will peck at it. It is a constituent of some pigeon supplements currently on the market -

I've got a Kia Picanto - can't even get my shopping in the boot let alone a basket! Baskets go on the back seat unfortunately My other half has driven Nissan Almera's for more than a decade - they have a cavernous boot, but sadly went out of production a few years ago
