  6. Must admit I wasn't particularly happy with birds being liberated yesterday Weather as forecast was totally wrong - never got a drop of rain here from 10am until gone 7.00pm UNC Birds would have had to be moved had they heldover yesterday as there could not have been a liberation from Maidstone today (they were holding a competition today Although I was well behind - I had 7 back out of 9 sent yesterday (nothing so far this morning) So with hindsight - the best decision was made (I am not keen on holdovers either, birds get fed in the basket )
  7. UNC Maidstone Combine liberated at 8.30am Wind is North West (Oh dear....) Good Luck to all who sent
  8. I have noticed that although young birds have been on the dark they still drop flights - or atleast some do - not all As we have never flown young birds natural, I don't know what the difference would be. Having noted the number of flights on the young birds for a few years before sending them - I have noticed we tend to drop youngsters when they get down to 5 flights. Does anybody else bother counting them? I queried this with a new starter at the clubhouse last weekend, did he look at and count the flights before sending - and it appears I was the only one who bothered! We don't send young birds to a race with 5 flights or less Does anybody else who flies darkness actually 'look' at their birds and count the flights, and for those who fly natural youngsters - what do you do? When do you stop your youngsters?
  9. I use potatoes to put next to single reared youngsters to give them support. I've had success with tying legs together on splayed youngsters - but have also had some failures

  17. I have complained more than once to suppliers of pigeon products Some have spit their dummies out and cancelled my orders Personally - I don't think I complain enough, but that's another story There's plenty of moaners on this site - but do you actually complain or just accept? Example: I placed an order which did not arrive - it was lost by the couriers, more than a week later - the 'replacement' was not even in the post and because I thought that was poor service - the company cancelled the order and refunded my money - this was two weeks and two days after the order was originally placed. Complaint 2 - different company - 100g of Ronidazole x 2 - there was only 75g in each tub (I was sent a third tub to make up for it after complaining) Would you check the weight in the first place? Things I haven't complained about: A 5ml dispenser that doesn't dispense 5ml! (I use a syringe to measure accurately now) Obviously I can't check whether something that says 10% something or other - is actually that as I don't have the equipment - but it does make you wonder if you are getting what it says on the tin!
