I have always used Bucktons or Countrywide high protein no maize as the build up mix for young and old birds and have always found the quality good (though I haven't bought any since racing finished in 2008)
strange that an 8 and a bracket equates to a smiley that I can't normally get to work LOL !!
Have you given their PMV vaccine ?
I don't know which organisation you fly in - but in the NEHU vaccinations have to be done before March 1st - otherwise you can't race for 4 weeks
Also any live vaccines given (such as paratyphoid or pox) the birds should be confined to the loft for 3 weeks (and I bet theirs not many people do that.....)
Have done well at Lillers (317 miles)
have won it twice and 1st 2nd and 3rd club last time
Have only topped the Fed once - and it was from that race point
I must REALLY be Billy no mates then - cos I've been a meMber for about 8 months - and haven't had ONE request LOL !!
Told you I didn't understand it !!
I used it in capsule form (echinacea) sprinkled on the feed - then I got a HUGE bottle of tablets cheap - which I crush and put on the food - it stinks (puke)
What utter rubbish you men spout
thrush - is a yeast infection - candida albicans - and is nothing like canker
there is a sexually transmitted disease called trichomoniasis - which is what you must be thinking of Roland - hope the wife hasn't been telling you porkies then (shrug)
time you lot read a few biology books - or got yourself a few leaflets from the GUM Clinic
well said chrissy
We won a race a couple of years ago - a sprint race - where the hen was on 'chipping eggs' - jumpimg beans put in a hollow plastic egg - 'many roads to Rome'
There's loads of threads on here on this subject
People say they don't treat - then go on to say 'except for cocci canker and worms'
er well.....................
How many years is that ?
It sounds OLD (shrug)
I mean REALLY OLD
(kewl)
Personally I don't like deep litter - I like a clean floor
and when you're breeding - the loft is a mess - birds just turn in to sh*t machines
Had 4 youngsters last year that only got one race at 55 miles - for one reason or another
they all turned out to be hens
As yearlings they were raced to 200 miles in the first half of the old bird programme - missing out all the big races - and we lost one at the 200 mile stage - one of them won the first race
In the second half of the old bird prgramme - with 3 left - all were raced inland including combine races and 2 went to the last channel race (317 miles) one was 2nd club - beaten by a loft mate
Over the full old bird program we lost 40% of our yearlings in 2008 so these stood up well
we also had a 2006 latebred hen who wasn't trained or raced until 2008 and she raced the full inland program - she was never last - but never in the running - but she will go over the channel this year hopefully
Don't know about RPRA - But NEHU rules (or UNC can't remember) if racing from two lofts- its the shortest distance that has to be used anyway
so would have thought you could only have one distance
the young birds do anyway - and don't get trained from that direction
with the old birds - they do sometimes get dragged over - but when your 20 is in with 20,000 - 45,000 you kind of expect it at times
