we have just jumped 5 yearlings from 160 miles- to 260 miles - 1 missing
so - no I wouldn't expect you to lose him
we jumped a yearlimg hen from 88 to 202 miles last year - and she did well (wouldn't trap - but horses for courses!)

All I can suggest is if you entice in to shed or garage - and contain it - it might feel safer in a container with food and water (such as a largish cardboard box)
