  7. There's a hell of a lot of people with broken limbs caused by slipping on ice - my daughter being one of them. There are also a lot of people in intensive care with swine flu, pneumonia etc aged under 40. I personally have both bacterial and viral infections that have lasted more than 6 weeks
  8. Won't be going myself this year - more family commitments, daughter broke her leg boxing day - so am helping out with the dogs and grandkids
  9. I can find clubs in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Gomera - but not Lanzarote - they do have them in Lanzarote though You will usually find that trainers will go over each morning - so unless the bird is injured - I would just leave it to find its own way home
  10. A Happy New Year to all basics members
  11. I boycott petrol stations for 3 weeks out of 4 - a tank of petrol lasts me a month

    Call Of Duty

    Too right
  14. I like something bigger than an egg in with a single youngster - depending on what I've got in the house - a decent sized potato - or a sweet potato works in keeping the growing youngster supported - I've found relying on an egg only doesn't work very well
  15. If they are twisting their necks and throwing seed about - they have PMV, sometimes pigeons survive - sometimes they do not there are lots of videos on you tube to do with pigeon disease

    Norban

They were at the NEHU Show - so I would think they would be at Doncaster
  17. Have you only got one brain cell working this morning - or are your keys stuck on your keyboard
  18. I think it is only the various union offices that would have this type of program - it is expensive in the UK - We do not work out our own distances, that is done by the organisation each individual belongs to (such as the RPRA and the NEHU)
  19. 2009 had one reported in Morocco - Tangiers, by a non fancier !! It was 2 weeks after liberation from Bourges, a poor race, that didn't even have 250 on the combine sheet - peeing down on the channel - am assuming he took refuge on a ship. He was 5th club from the same race the year before It took me a few weeks to locate a fancier who was willing to collect the bird, but the non fancier had let it go - as it had become a celebrity and he was sick of all the visitors !! I had looked up how to get to Morocco - it was a 36 hour bus journey - you changed at Paris!! Had I been able to get it to a fancier - we would have made a holiday out of collecting him
  20. I am doing things differently this year - see how it goes, normally I only take one round from stock and racers - but this year with more stock (retired racers) am only breeding from the stock and taking 2 rounds which will be kept separately, the first round will be bred early and on natural, the 2nd round will be darkness youngsters. The racers will be paired in Jan/Feb and allowed to sit 10 days only, some of these eggs from fancied pairs will be floated to the stock. I had 2 youngsters in the race team last year that were '2nd rounds' and they did well - one topping the fed, one was very young and quite immature and missed the first 2 weeks of training but caught up So I will be pairing up around Dec 6th
  21. Not so - I've had one reported in Morocco NEHU birds have been reported in Norway and Iceland this year
  22. Racing pigeons have been reported in some distant places this year !
